  • Division7/Star Racing/Yamaha Thunder Valley Report

Lakewood, CO - The AMA MX National Series rolled into the beautiful state of Colorado to attend round five at Thunder Valley MX Park. Division 7/Star Racing/Yamaha continues to progress, fielding #41 Matt Lemoine, #43 Broc Tickle, #159 Darryn Durham. For the second time in the sports history this outdoor national was held under lights on a Saturday night, combined with altitude the race once again brought new elements and possibilities to MX racings future. In timed qualifying Tickle established himself as a factor by setting the 3rd best time leading into the evening’s event.

The big highlight came out of Tickle in moto one, coming out of the first turn in 3rd; he then began to apply some pressure to the leaders on lap two. Riding at his best and only dropping a few bike lengths, Tickle continued to hold the pace of the leaders through the halfway mark which enabled him to capitalize on other competitor’s mistakes. At this point he showed strength by finding his lines and breaking away. With three laps remaining, Tickle had 2nd place in his sights, but he couldn’t capitalize as he still marched on to his first outdoor podium appearance. Also in moto one, the rest of the Star squad all came out pretty well with Durham riding strong in 10th, and Lemoine all but had 11th sewn up before a last lap crash that shifted him back to 22nd.

In moto two, it was Lemoine and Tickle who acquired good starts and continued on riding outstandingly through the race. Early on Lemoine paced himself in 9th until lap three when he put on a sprint and took over 6th. Meanwhile, Tickle raced up to the back of his teammate by the mid way point, and applied heavy pressure. After several attempts to pass a determined Lemoine, Tickle in return lost some steam and tried to regroup. Fortunately, in the closing stages of the moto, Lemoine and Tickle kept it together, allowing them to net finishes in 7th and 8th. Also, riding consistently, Durham fell back early on, only to gather himself late in the race and go on to notch 12th.

Results:
Moto 1 Moto 2 = Overall Finish
Broc Tickle           3rd          8th           = 6th

Darryn Durham 10th        12th        = 10th

Matt Lemoine   22nd        7th           = 13th
