Johnny Lewis to Returns to XTRM AMA Pro Supermoto
LAS VEGAS – Coming off his finish ever in the AMA Pro Flat Track Championship—sixth place—Johnny Lewis makes his return to the XTRM AMA Pro Supermoto Championship for the first time this season this Sunday, May 31 for round three at South Point Casino in Las Vegas, Nevada. Lewis, with support from Factory Pro Racing and Bridgestone USA, will race in the Unlimited Class.
Factory Pro Racing stepped in to bring Lewis back to AMA Pro Supermoto for at least one race on a KTM 560SMR. Bridgestone has come along to provide the supermoto race tires for the weekend. For two consecutive years Lewis competed on factory KTMs in the Unlimited Class so this is not new territory. He is credited with being the youngest rider ever to win in the class and has several podium finishes as well.
The XTRM AMA Pro Supermoto Championship round at South Point Casino will be one of the more unique settings of the series with the dirt section inside an arena and the asphalt portion on the adjoining parking lots outside. It is similar to the ESPN X Games Supermoto course.
“I didn’t plan on doing any AMA Supermoto rounds this year but it will be cool to get back to racing on part pavement and part dirt,” said Lewis. “When Factory Pro Racing offered their bike and seeing how awesome the Las Vegas track layout is, I jumped into this deal. I’m also excited to race with Bridgestone’s for the first time. I have no goal; just have fun and put in a good showing.”
