Lawrence & Team Set for National Opener

  • Lawrence & Team Set for National Opener

CARLSBAD, Calif. – Critics be damned, the world of motocross’ most controversial figure - Jason “JLaw” Lawrence (Boost Mobile/ampm/Monster Energy/Troy-JLaw Racing) – will be back in action this weekend at California’s Glen Helen Raceway, bringing with him legions of fans – along with the curious - and leading a team worthy of putting up some solid 450 class numbers this season as the 2009 Lucas Oil AMA Pro Motocross Championships gets set to throw down with its first of 12 rounds of summer racing action.

“I feel like I owe a lot here to my fans and sponsors and, whether you’re watching the race live at Glen Helen or on TV somewhere, keep an eye on the No. 338 Boost Mobile/ampm/Monster Energy/Troy-JLaw Racing bike,” said Lawrence. “I’m either going to be on the podium or highly pissed if I’m not.”

Lawrence opened last year with an MX Lites class moto one win at Glen Helen (1-5 for 3rd o/a). And, true-to-form this year on the 450s, Lawrence is said to have been putting in practice laps on the big bike worthy of making believers out of the factory riders. “I’m definitely feeling comfortable on the 450,” he added.

Joining Lawrence in the 450 class aboard the Boost Mobile/ampm/Monster Energy/Troy-JLaw Racing YZs is veteran Nick Wey. Scoring a top ten (9th) finish last year at the Glen Helen opener with a clean 10-10 run, Wey – an O.G. card-carrying Michigan Mafia member – tallied 264 points last year racing the Nationals’ 450 class, good enough for 6th overall in the sport’s premier class and just two points out of a top five spot. Pumped on starting his 13th year racing the Nationals, look for Wey to put up solid and steady numbers throughout the summer series – a stable force within the Boost Mobile/ampm/Monster Energy/Troy-JLaw Racing team providing balance to JLaw’s ‘win-no-matter-what-the-cost’ attitude.

"I’ve definitely been looking forward to lining and racing some motocross,” said Wey. “I didn’t have what I felt was one of the better supercross seasons, so it’ll be nice to wipe the slate clean and start out fresh at Glen Helen. Boost Mobile/ampm/Monster Energy/Troy-JLaw Racing has put together a bike that’ll be competitive, so it’s up to me to bring the results home – and I’m looking forward to that challenge.”

First up for the Boost Mobile/ampm/Monster Energy/Troy-JLaw Racing team is this weekend’s Glen Helen opener, round one of the 2009 Lucas Oil AMA Pro Motocross Championships.

Generous sponsors of the Boost Mobile/ampm/Monster Energy/Troy-JLaw Racing team include: 2XL, ONE Industries, FMF, Motul, Pro Taper, Filtron, Dunlop, Enzo, JMJE, RK Racing Chain, CSI Construction, Dasa, CP Pistons, Acerbis, Leatt Brace, Sunline, SixSixOne and Yamaha.
