J-Law Suspended for One Race by FIM
Jason Lawrence is back on the sidelines, this time not voluntarily, as the controversial Yamaha rider was handed a one-race suspension and a $2,000 fine based on his actions in the Jacksonville AMA Supercross main event. Lawrence got into a ramfest with Team Yamaha's Broc Hepler that lasted several laps. According to his manager Scott Sepkovic, Lawrence will sit out the Seattle race tomorrow night -- a race he was going back into the Lites division for.
More troubling is the fact that the AMA is also considering its own suspension, as Lawrence had already been suspended once this year for getting into a scuffle in the pits at San Francisco. Lawrence was signed up for (but did not ride) the Lites class there, which means the FIM had no say in his suspension there. However, because the 450 Supercross class is basically co-sanctioned by the AMA and FIM, the AMA could tack more races and money on Lawrence.
Stay tuned for an announcements from the FIM and the AMA.
