  • Suzuki City Jacksonville Recap

Biloxi, MS – The eighth and final round of the 2009 Monster Energy AMA Supercross Eastern Regional AMA Supercross Lites Series took riders to a new stop on the AMA Supercross tour—Jacksonville, Florida’s Municipal Stadium. Both of the Suzuki City Lites team riders were able to qualify and finish in the top 10 in both the results and the overall championship series.

Steven Clarke:

I had a solid championship. I was a little up and down, but I made every main event, which was a goal in itself for me in my first year. It went, um, good. I’m going to leave it at good. It didn’t go spectacular; spectacular would’ve been top five, and it didn’t go great, because I was up into sixth in the championship, but then I tore my knee up and I fractured my ankle in Toronto, which nobody knows about. So I just wanted to finish out the season and see what I could come away with.

Michael Nasakaitis, Team Manager:

I am very pleased with how the season went overall. Considering all that happened with Suzuki, the economy, and some of our bigger sponsors, we shouldn't have even been out there. We had some really strong bikes, and the guys rode great. Steven Clarke was fighting a knee injury that kept him in pain throughout the entire series. So that combined with it being his first season on SX, I am pumped. Matt Goerke put in some really great rides, and stayed healthy as we head into the outdoors. He can't wait to get on the 450.

The team is extremely pleased to have finished every weekend in the top ten. That was a challenge for a lot of teams this year. We want to thank our sponsors for supporting us. Suzuki City really stepped up when a lot of our sponsors pulled back. If it weren’t for them, we would have been spectating. Same for the upcoming outdoor season, they have committed a lot to us.

We are still pursuing sponsorship for the outdoor series if anyone is interested you can contact us at suzukicity@bellsouth.net.

I would like to personally thank our sponsors, crew, and fans.

The next stop for the Suzuki City team is the opening round of the Lucas Oil AMA Pro Motocross Championship at Glen Helen Raceway on May 23, 2009. For more information on the team, visit www.suzukionly.com.
