  • 199 Lives Claims Best Action Sport Film

Los Angeles, CA – January 25, 2008:  199 Lives claimed Best Action Sport Film and Against the Grain was awarded Best Biography at this year’s X-Dance Action Sports Film Festival held in Salt Lake City. Other Studio411 films that received nominations include Seven Sunny Days (Matchstick Productions) and Believe (Train Jump Entertainment).

“We are very happy for our producers and thrilled that industry and film enthusiasts have recognized their work,” said David Brooks, senior vice president, business development, Sportnet.  “The talent of the producers and the quality of the productions raise the bar for action sports films.”

Directed by Gregg Godfrey, 199 Lives is a documentary that explores the life of action sports phenomenon Travis Pastrana. At the age of 22, Travis is a living legend as a motocross racer, FMX rider, action sports hero, filmmaker, and rally car driver.  Produced by Jeremy Rawle (Nitro Circus Series, Lock N’ Load), 199 Lives is slated for a spring 2008 theatrical release followed by domestic and international distribution.

Against the Grain tells the story of one of snowboarding’s most celebrated athletes, Tara Dakides. Narrated by Alecia “P!nk” Moore, the film provides a revealing look at Tara’s most devastating moments and greatest triumphs. From an early drug addition to her amazing professional accomplishments, this film tells the true story of a champion who has not only triumphed in the world of snowboarding but has triumphed in life. Produced by Josh Landan, Against the Grain is slated for an early 2008 theatrical release.

This year’s other Studio411 X-Dance nominations include Best Editor and Best Director for 199 Lives and Best Soundtrack for Believe.  In 2007, Studio411 was awarded at X-Dance for Sipping Jetsteams which won Best Cinematography and Lock N’ Load which won Athlete of the Year – Travis Pastrana.
