Mark Martin also said DEI is negotiating to sign motocross star Ricky Carmichael to drive a full Camping World East Series (formerly Busch East) schedule this year.
"Ricky has the fire, desire and talent to do this stuff,'' said Martin, who worked with Carmichael at Ginn Racing before the merger with DEI last season.
The "Busch East Series" is the same series that has produced two-time Busch Champion Martin Truex, Jr. and three-time Nextel Cup event winner, Denny Hamlin. In addition, Joe Gibbs Racing's hottest prospect Joey Logano is the current Busch East champion and will be making the transition into the Nationwide series (formally the NASCAR Busch Series) full-time in 2008.
This possible move would put RC in full bodied stock cars, much heavier and more powerful than his current Late Model race cars and would be a big step up the ladder towards making it to Daytona someday.
