  • MDK Hires New Director of Engineering

San Jose, CA - MDK Motorsports / MDK Racing (MDK) has hired Dr. Simon Jackson as its Director of Engineering at the MDK Speed Equipment engine design and manufacturing facility in San Jose, California.

MDK Racing and MDK Speed Equipment are responsible for the engine design/development of the MDK/KTM Lites Team as well as select privateer Honda and Yamaha SX/MX Teams. The long-term contract between MDK and KTM has allowed the addition of Simon Jackson to the MDK staff. This addition will allow MDK Speed Equipment to rapidly bring world-class component designs to manufacture, test and racing.

Dr. Jackson has a long history of engineering at companies like Cosworth Racing - CART and IRL, Kawasaki Motor Corp. - SX/MX engine development and NASCAR and Aprilia WSB project consultation. Key skills include development based engineering and management, FEA analysis, 3D design, materials and manufacturing.

Dr. Jackson and MDK Speed Equipment are currently partnering with select worldwide vendors for the production of MDK Speed Equipment designed engine components for our MDK supported Race Teams as well as the production of KTM, Honda, Kawasaki, Yamaha and Suzuki performance components. Dr. Jackson's long time relationships with leading piston, valve, spring, rod and other strategic component manufacturers will allow MDK to bring the highest quality materials, forgings, machined products and coatings to the industry.

MDK Team Owner, Mark Kvamme and MDK Racing’s Director of Racing Operations, Danny Paladino expressed, “The hiring of Simon has allowed MDK to bring all of our engineering in house to support our engine component development.  We feel the relationship with our partners and vendors will bring the highest quality components to not only our Race Team but to the consumer as well. This key addition also allows MDK to be in position to head into other forms of motorcycle racing as well.”
