  • Volunteers Needed for Winter X Games

ESPN X Games is accepting volunteer applications for Winter X Games 11 at Aspen/Snowmass, Colorado, January 25-28, 2007

WHO:
The Winter X Games 11 staff is looking to the local and regional communities for enthusiastic people who are willing to volunteer for a full day, assisting with Winter X Games 11, the premier multi-event winter action sports competition. Several day-long volunteer positions are available including: spectator services, crowd control, ushering, access control and credential checking. Winter X Games also offers the XCEL program, designed for dedicated individuals who are willing to volunteer every day from approximately 9 a.m. to 9 p.m., January 24-28, 2007. Limited XCEL positions are available.

Anyone interested in becoming a Winter X Games volunteer must be 18 years of age by January 24, 2007.

WHAT:
The 11th annual winter action sports competition will feature more than 250 athletes from across the globe competing for medals and prize money in the following sports: Skiing, Snowboard and Snowmobile. The event includes day and evening competitions and is free to the public and airs live on ESPN and ABC.

The primary function of a volunteer is to assist the spectators and credentialed guests during the event. Volunteers are expected to be proactive, helpful and knowledgeable hosts to spectators during their visit at the Winter X Games.

Volunteers will be privy to Winter X Games apparel, sponsor goody bags, snacks and refreshments. They will also receive an invitation to the private X Games volunteer appreciation party. Additionally, XCEL volunteers who make themselves available for the duration of the event will receive an extra Winter X Games token of appreciation.

In addition to the other items that volunteers will receive, there will be the chance to take part in a daily raffle of items donated by local and industry businesses. Businesses that donate items to be entered into the volunteer raffle will gain exposure by having their company name included on the volunteer website thank-you page, Spectator Guide, and the on-site jumbotron at Winter X Games 11. Local businesses can log onto www.xgamesvolunteers.com for more information on how to get involved.

WHEN & WHERE:
The www.xgamesvolunteers.com website is accepting applications beginning November 15 for daily and XCEL volunteers.

Winter X Games 11 will be held January 25-28, 2007 at Aspen/Snowmass, Colorado. All competitions will be held at the resort's Buttermilk Mountain.

ESPN and ABC will feature 15 hours of live programming January 25 - January 28. ESPN2 will present daily late-night highlight programs from January 26 - January 29, resulting in 19 total hours of original programming for Winter X Games 11. Additionally, the Winter X Games will also be televised on ESPN's International networks to more than 121 countries and territories in Latin America, the Pacific Rim, Middle East, Africa and Israel.
