Ryan Sheckler, Jamie Bestwick and Bucky Lasek Look for Back-to-Back Titles

October 2006 - New York, N.Y - The Dew Action Sports Tour, the pro tour of action sports, makes the fifth and final tour stop of its second season with the PlayStation® Pro, October 12-15, at Orlando’s TD Waterhouse Centre. The five-city tour opened in Louisville in June and also included stops in Louisville, Denver, Portland and San Jose.

Skateboarders Ryan Sheckler and Bucky Lasek, FMX competitor Nate Adams, and BMX stars Jamie Bestwick and Scotty Cranmer are among the athletes who will be in Orlando to compete for the Dew Cup, awarded at season’s end to the athlete with the highest number of points in each of the six disciplines of skateboarding, BMX, and freestyle motocross.

All 150 of the athletes who will compete in the PlayStation® Pro qualified for the remainder of the season at the first two stops on the Tour, the Panasonic Open and Right Guard Open. Due to the depth of this year’s athlete talent, the Tour increased the finals field in all disciplines, allowing 12 athletes instead of 10 to advance to the finals. The Tour also increased the size of the Freestyle Motocross, BMX Park, BMX Dirt and Skateboard Park courses so athletes can perform bigger and better tricks.

The last stop of the Tour, the Toyota Challenge in San Jose, Calif., saw intense competition. Some highlights are below:

· Ryan Sheckler, 16, from San Clemente, Calif., increased his lead in the Skateboard Park season standings by winning back to back tour stops, the Vans® Invitational and Toyota Challenge. Greg Lutzka, 21, of Milwaukee, Wisc, placed second and jumped to sixth in the overall standings. Placing third was Jereme Rogers, 21, of Boston, Mass., who secured his second place position in the season standings. Third overall is 11 year old Nyjah Huston of Davis, Calif.

· In Skateboard Vert, perennial frontrunner Bucky Lasek, 33, of Baltimore, Md., claimed his first victory of the season and put himself in prime position to win back-to-back Dew Cups as he leads the Tour standings. Sandro Dias, 31, of Brazil, put on another impressive performance following his first victory on the Dew Action Sports Tour with a second place finish in San Jose. Dias sits in second in the standings. Bob Burnquist, 29, of Brazil placed third and sits in third overall in the season standings.

· 19 year old Scotty Cranmer of Jackson, NJ, reclaimed the overall lead in BMX Park following his second victory of the season at the Toyota Challenge. Ryan Nyquist, 27, of Los Gatos, Calif., placed second and Daniel Dhers, 21, of Venezuela remains close in points standings by placing third at the Toyota Challenge.

· 2005 dual Dew Cup winner, Ryan Guettler, 22, of Australia, won the BMX Dirt event and currently sits in fifth place overall in the season standings. Luke Parslow, 21, of Riverside, Calif., leads the season standings heading into the PlayStation® Pro with 288 points. He is trailed closely by Anthony Napolitan, 20, of Youngstown, OH, with 276 and Ryan Nyquist with 222 points.

· Jamie Bestwick, 35, of Great Britain, continues to dominate BMX Vert competition. He expanded his points lead with another win at the Toyota Challenge and is the frontrunner for Athlete of the Year honors with 375 total points. Placing second and currently in second place overall is Chad Kagy, 27, of Gilroy, Calif., with 280 points. Simon Tabron, 32, of Great Britain, placed third at the Toyota Challenge and is fourth in the overall standings, trailing Kevin Robinson, 34, of Providence, RI in third place with 244.

· Nate Adams, 22, of Glendale, Az., took the lead away from Travis Pastrana, 22, Annapolis, Md., to lead Freestyle Motocross competition after a win at the Toyota Challenge. Adams leads with 350 points, with Pastrana in second place at 275 and Mike Mason, 25, of Minden, NV in third with 187 points.
