December 5, 2005, 11:27am
More than two hundred guests were this weekend in Monaco to celebrate
the 2005 Motocross and Supermoto Champions in one of the last palace
built in the famous Republic. The Monte Carlo Bay resort offered a
great opportunity to celebrate the main actors of the sport, who were
more than ever the stars of the night.
“Unfortunately we don’t have sunny weather in Monaco this time, but the most important is that the sun shines in this hotel with our best Off Road riders,” said president Francesco Zerbi during the opening ceremony. “It’s the first time since many years that we have a celebration only for the Motocross and Supermoto champions, and for me this is a really important sign. It proves that both are now at a high level, and even if there is till some difficulties I would like that everyone look behind him and reminds how was the situation three or four years ago. I want to thanks our partner Youthstream for the work already done, and I’m convinced that within a few years Motocross will be at the same level as the most famous Motorsport activities. And tonight I’m really happy that we can celebrate the main actors, the riders, who offered us exciting championships all over the year,” added the FIM President.
After the traditional Press Conference, the trophies and FIM medals were awarded to riders and officials during the Gala Dinner.
Mauro Fiorgentile (ITA, UEM 85 Champion), Jeremy Tarroux (FRA, UEM 125 Champion) and Roman Morozov (UKR, UEM 250 Champion) got their trophy from Dieter Junge, President of the UEM.
