For the third-straight year, Chase Sexton has ended the SMX season on the sidelines. The Red Bull KTM rider was all alone in fourth during the final moto of the season when he endoed hard in the motocross section in the back of the track. It was a scary crash, and Sexton was down on the track attended to by Alpinestars' medics for several laps, with yellow caution flags flying to keep the rest of the riders away from him.
KTM's press release indicates "a mild concussion and a weak shoulder that he will have further evaluated this upcoming week."
Lucky for Sexton it wasn't worse. This injury will likely knock Sexton out of the Motocross of Nations for a second-straight year, which also means Las Vegas marks Sexton's last ride ever for Red Bull KTM. He is expected to switch to Monster Energy Kawasaki in 2026.
With Haiden Deegan also now out of Team USA at the MXoN with a collarbone injury, it's another mad scramble to find replacement riders. We believe the most likely option is RJ Hampshire taking Sexton's 450 slot, and Justin Cooper or Cooper Webb on Deegan's Yamaha YZ250F.
Sexton crashed out of the 2023 finale while leading in Los Angeles, then got landed on during the first lap of the 2024 finale in a rhythm section, breaking his hand.
