  • Kawasaki: Jorge Prado Will Not Participate in SuperMotocross Playoffs
Las Vegas, NV SMX World Championship FinalSuperMotocross World Championship

The ongoing Jorge Prado/Kawasaki relationship continues to change day to day. Now, just two days ahead of the SuperMotocross World Championship SMX Playoffs begin in North Carolina, Kawasaki has announced that Prado will not be racing the SMX Playoffs at all.

Despite sitting 13th in the 450SMX qualifying seeding for the SMX Playoffs, the Spanish rider will not lineup for any of the three playoff races.

This is the latest update in the ongoing relationship that has been bumpy since the start of the AMA Pro Motocross Championship. Jason Weigandt explained some details in this recent article. Then, Team Spain's roster for the Monster Energy FIM Motocross of Nations three-rider was announced, but without Prado on the squad. Read that full update if you missed it.

While details were not explained in today's announcement, this is huge news within itself. So, what happens next? We're guessing the Prado divorce from Monster Energy Kawasaki is coming, but it's a matter of when.

Jason Anderson is also out for the rest of the season with ongoing health issues, so the factory squad will not have a participant in the SMX World Championship and playoffs this year.

"Following his first Pro Motocross Championship campaign and placing sixth overall, @jorgeprado61 and Kawasaki mutually decided that he will not participate in the upcoming @supermotocross Playoff rounds.

Monster Energy Kawasaki will attend Charlotte this weekend in support of Kawasaki Team Green riders @enzotemmerman21 and @vincentwey as they compete in the SMX Next World All-Stars Class in Charlotte and St. Louis."
