The first round of the SuperMotocross World Championship (SMX) Playoffs is this weekend at zMAX Dragway at Charlotte Motor Speedway, and as far as the third class on track, things will look a little different. In the first two years of the SMX Playoffs, three different amateur divisions competed at the three rounds. zMAX Dragway hosted a 65 class at the first round, a Supermini class raced at round two, and the SMX Next class competed at the finale.
For 2025, the focus will be on the SMX Next World All-Stars class with a two-round series at the first two playoff rounds. The SMX Next program will see single points paid at the first round and double points paid at round two at The Dome at America’s Center in St. Louis (just as the 250SMX and 450SMX Class points payouts are). The SMX Next World All-Stars will not race the SMX Finale in Las Vegas, which is where the KTM Junior Supercross Challenge will take place.
The SMX Next World All-Stars class is for elite riders, 14 years of age and older who are working towards, or have already dipped their toes in, the pro ranks. It is a great opportunity for these riders to test the waters and see what is expected of them once they are racing professionally full time, including the pressure of an escalating points scale at the playoffs.

Many of these names will be recognizable to fans, like Enzo Temmerman who won the Birmingham supercross round of SMX, and Caden Dudney who raced the last two rounds of the AMA Pro Motocross Championship, as did Husqvarna' Landon Gibson. Kayden Minear will return to action after a thumb injury sidelined him earlier this summer. Dudney's fellow young Yamaha teammate Carson Wood is also on the entry list, as is 15-year-old Wyatt Thurman, who won two motos at Loretta Lynn's Ranch in his 250 and 450 B Limited classes. We will have four of the top five overall finishes from the Open and 250 Pro Sport Classes from Loretta Lynn's (Temmerman, Kade Johnson, Diesel Thomas, and Gibson). Kande Bollasina won the Schoolboy 1 (12-17) B/C Class at the Ranch in August and has moved to the 250F now. Max Shane (450 B Limited) and McKayden Fitch (250 B Limited) also won titles at the Ranch.
Update: Luke Fauser is OUT for these two races following a practice crash at ClubMX.
Temmerman was the class of the field at Loretta Lynn's, but Dudney and Minear missing in action due to injuries. How will the Kawasaki rider stack up against the two fast Monster Energy Yamaha Star Racing competitors?
It's a diverse group of riders and for many it will be their first time on the hybrid style track. So, the question is, who on this list will be named the 2025 the SMX Next World All-Stars Champion?
