  • Jed Beaton Suffers Broken Right Femur in Practice Crash

The following press release is from Yamaha:

Heartbreak at the Final Hurdle

Jed Beaton and his Monster Energy CDR Yamaha Team were dealt a devastating blow with the current MX1 ProMX Championship leader falling from his bike while training and sustaining a serious leg injury that will sideline him for the remainder of the championship.

Beaton putting the final touches on his round seven preparations when he miscued a jump and landed awkwardly, breaking his right femur. He was quickly transported to hospital for further assessment and once final X-Rays and scans have been completed, the next step in the rehab will begin.

“Everyone at CDR is just gutted,” Dack begins. “To get that phone call this morning really took the wind out of our sails and has had an emotional effect on the staff. Jed and the team had worked so hard over the past 18 months and then for him to finally have a breakout ride at Canberra and absolutely dominate the day, like we knew he could, and increase his lead in the championship to 29 points, to the numb feeling we have now is so hard to explain. We are all a bit speechless.

“Even after nearly 50 years of racing and management, the highs and lows of our sport still hit hard, and our thoughts and best wishes go out to Jed and his partner Holly, and we wish him a complete and healthy return to racing when he is ready. CDR will be here for him.

“Between CDR and his brother Ross, we have scrambled to get a great medical team around him and will ensure he gets the help and support he needs to make a full recovery.

“We don’t have an exact timeline on it, but we know Jed is the ultimate professional and well dedicate himself to his rehab and be back on the bike better than ever,” Dack ends.

"The effort and energy that goes into winning a championship is huge, from the rider as well as the team, and on behalf of Yamaha Motor Australia, we send our best wishes to Jed and sympathise with the disappointment the CDR team are currently experiencing," says Motorsport Manager, Scott Bishop. "All year I have witnessed the dedication both have put in and the growing of the relationship that has seen Jed rise to a new level through their attention to detail and desire to win.

"We know Jed will be back and do all in his power to return a better rider and have no doubt the CDR team will be there to offer the support and guidance he needs to make a full recovery."

This news comes as Aaron Tanti is about to make his comeback to racing after seven months off with a neck injury. Tanti has been back on the bike for about a month now and is on track to race rounds seven and eight of the ProMX in Queensland but with low expectations.

“I have been riding and feel better on the bike every time but it’s just baby steps at this point and I have to start somewhere, so I will be behind the gate at Toowoomba and looking to get back into the swing of racing,” Tanti offers.
