Breakthrough
What a day Jo Shimoda had at RedBud! The Honda HRC rider was awesome all day, and showed some serious heart by tracking down Tom Vialle and passing him to take the moto win. In the second moto Shimoda tracked down Jalek Swoll, went by him, and disappeared for the win by over 17 seconds. It was his fourth career overall victory, and the second time he’s won at RedBud. Will he keep it rolling at Spring Creek? -Aaron Hansel
Two for 22
Jalek Swoll has been nothing short of amazing since coming back from a torn Achilles tendon. In just his third race back the Triumph Racing rider went 6-3 for second overall at RedBud. He even led laps in the second moto! Taking second overall in a national is fantastic, especially in such a loaded field, but to do it after coming back mid-season following a major injury is astonishing. Will Swoll continue to dazzle at Spring Creek? -Hansel
Long Time Coming
It’s been a long time since we’ve seen Michael Mosiman get a podium in Pro Motocross. Heck, it’s been a long time since we’ve seen Mosiman contest the nationals! He missed all of 2024 with a fractured neck, only raced two nationals in 2023, and the last time he was on the podium was at Fox Raceway in 2021! He’s been putting together some strong rides lately though, and his efforts culminated with a third overall at RedBud. If he’s able to get out of the gate well this weekend there’s a solid chance he’ll earn back-to-back podiums, something he has yet to accomplish in his Pro Motocross career. -Hansel

The Bounce Back
There are plenty of riders who would be stoked with fifth overall, but Haiden Deegan is not one of them. After dominating every round except Thunder Valley, where he still took second overall, Deegan finally had a bad day due to a combination of being sore from a crash during qualifying, a bad start in the first moto, a mechanical problem, and crashes. He still holds a 38-point lead over Jo Shimoda in second, but you know he’s going to come into Spring Creek fired up. Look for Deegan to reassert himself this weekend -Aaron Hansel
The Bounce Back X2
Also, in the category of riders who had days at RedBud they’d rather forget is Eli Tomac, who was battling forward in the first moto before his motorcycle let go, resulting in a DNF. In the second moto he got a horrible start and had to charge through the pack, eventually earning seventh in the moto and 13th overall. The damage in points was huge too, and Tomac now sits in fourth place, 73 points back of Jett Lawrence. Can Tomac bounce back and get a win at Spring Creek? -Hansel
Ducati Do-Over
Antonio Cairoli debuted Ducati’s new Desmo450 at RedBud, and initially things went well. Cairoli got a solid start in the first moto and piloted his new machine to ninth. In the second moto he ran as high as fourth, but unfortunately his bike developed a mechanical problem and Cairoli wasn’t able to finish the moto. He’ll get another shot at it at Spring Creek, however. How will the 39-year-old Cairoli and the new Ducati do in their second go of it in Pro Motocross? -Hansel
Reset and Rip
A little rust is always expected when a rider returns to racing following an injury, but Chase Sexton had a little more buildup than expected when the gate dropped for the first moto at RedBud last week. Someone must have blasted him with some steel wool between motos, however, because in the second moto he looked much closer to the guy who earned the #1 plate last season. If he was able to improve that much between motos, what kind of pace will he have at Spring Creek? -Hansel
Chef
After bike problems and a rough first round, Levi Kitchen has made a strong comeback from a back injury sustained at Daytona. He has four third place finishes so far, and looked like he had the speed to win at RedBud, but could not stay off the ground both motos. However, Levi won Spring Creek last year (and then won two more races to finish the season). Could he do it again? -Sarah Whitmore
Quiet Takeover
Justin Cooper logged his second podium of the season at RedBud and now with his teammate Cooper Webb out with a knee injury, it is very likely he will take over the SMX points lead at Spring Creek. Will he seal it with another podium? -Whitmore
Last Hoorah
Two-time Pro Motocross 250 Champion Jeremy Martin will say his farewell to racing this weekend when he lines up for the last time (as a professional) at his home track. To make the story even better, he is racing for Monster Energy Yamaha Star Racing, the team he won his championships for. Knowing Jeremy, he could be fighting for a podium or for a top twenty but either way it will be a nice send off at his home race. -Whitmore
