Last week following the first round of the SuperMotocross World Championship (SMX) Playoffs, Monster Energy/Pro Circuit Kawasaki confirmed fill-in rider Ty Masterpool has a deal in place for 2025. Steve Matthes has been reporting Masterpool signed a two-year deal to race the full SMX season (AMA Supercross and Motocross as well as the SMX Playoffs), although exact details were not specified in the official announcement.
On Tuesday night, the team also confirmed Cameron McAdoo will be back on its roster for 2025 as well. In late April, Payton called into Matthes’ PulpMX Show and confirmed both McAdoo and Seth Hammaker had re-signed with the team for the 2025 season. Now, the news is confirmed and official. McAdoo said the following in a brief video:
“Hey, everyone. I'm really excited to announce that I will be extending my partnership with the Pro Circuit Race Team and Kawasaki for the 2025 SuperMotocross season. It's a dream come true for me to be part of this team even for one year, but to think that this will be my sixth year on the team is pretty crazy. If you'd have told me that when I was a kid, I would have never imagined. So, I'm really excited to continue working together with the team and it's felt like home to me ever since I started. So I'm really looking forward to next year and I really hope to see you guys at the races. Thank you everyone for the support.”
McAdoo was in the 250SX East Region Monster Energy AMA Supercross championship battle—and actually led—when he collided with his 250SX West Region points leading teammate Levi Kitchen at the Nashville Supercross. The late season collision changed the fate of the championship, as neither McAdoo nor Kitchen would claim the titles—which would be won by Tom Vialle (East Region) and RJ Hampshire (West Region). McAdoo would suffer a broken shoulder blade then have a setup before Pro Motocross that would sideline him until the SMX Playoff rounds and Kitchen would finish five points behind Hampshire in the 250SX West Region title.
Looking ahead to next year for Payton’s squad, at the moment the confirmed team is: McAdoo, Masterpool, Hammaker, Kitchen, and Garrett Marchbanks. After just two 250SX main event starts and a serious hip injury ahead of the third race of the year, Max Vohland’s time with the team appears to be over.
In an interview with DMXS Radio’s David Izer last week, Austin Forkner’s said he is in the middle of contract talks at the moment. We have heard he has offers from other teams, including Triumph Racing. Forkner told Izer his goal is a deal that has a 250SMX ride next year and a guaranteed 450SMX ride the following year. Izer and Forkner covered contract negotiations, his recent brain surgery and recovery from injury, how he spends his spare time off the bike, and more. Check out that full interview if you missed it.
Highly successful Kawasaki Team Green amateur racer Drew Adams is expected to join the team at some point next year, possibly racing the Supercross Futures program then turning pro for the Pro Motocross season.
With the SMX season finale this weekend and October just around the corner, we expect more roster updates to be official within the next month.
