Works Edition Honda CRF450R and CRF250R: Born from Championships.
Honda’s recent run at the top of the motocross and supercross world, which includes a sweep of all five AMA Supercross and AMA Pro Motocross Championships in 2023, plus multiple MXGP World Championships, has not only created a nice trophy case of number-one plates, but also lots of technology that has worked its way to showroom floors and Honda Powersports dealerships. In a rare move for the brand, both the CRF450R and CRF250R have been redesigned in the same year, with the 2025 bikes getting significant upgrades like a new frame and advanced chassis, improved suspension, a new airbox, plus advanced electronics, all wrapped in new plastics and graphics. You’ve probably noted Hunter Lawrence switching to the new 2025 CRF450R in recent weeks and immediately scoring moto victories at Unadilla and Budds Creek. Well, a lot of the feel baked into the chassis of the 2025 comes from suggestions from Hunter himself, as well as the rest of the riders on the Honda HRC factory team. Team Manager Lars Lindstrom even told of a then-secret test two years ago in Florida with Honda riders, Hunter and Jett Lawrence, getting to provide input on the new bike before it went into production. You can say that the feel of these new bikes was born from the best.
But if you want a production bike that’s even closer to the Honda HRC race machines, the Works Edition (WE) line has been expanded for 2025, with a CRF250R Works Edition joining the line for the first time, alongside the CRF450R Works Edition. The Works Editions make for the ultimate race bike, as they add factory installed components to make the bikes feel and look even more like the factory racing machines. They’re race-ready right out of the box. Here are highlights:
2025 Works Editions:
- CRF250RWE: Totally new model for 2025. Based on the heavily revised standard bike with factory-installed components to create the ultimate race machine.
- First-ever hydraulic clutch on a Honda 250, ensuring smooth and consistent power delivery.
- Yoshimura exhaust and Twin Air filter for that authentic race sound and performance.
- DID DirtStar LT-X rims for durability and reliability lap after lap.
- Hand-ported red cylinder head and Showa A-kit suspension for factory-level handling and power.
- CRF450RWE: Receives the same updates for 2025 as the base model, with factory-installed upgrades for immediate race readiness.
- Exclusive Yoshimura exhaust and Twin Air filter for peak performance.
- Hydraulic clutch and Hinson basket, engineered for the 450's raw power.
- DID DirtStar LT-X rims for added durability.
- Hand-ported red cylinder head and Showa A-kit suspension for superior handling and power.
The work of a top racer and race team never stops, and that’s why Honda isn’t resting on the laurels of this year’s AMA 450 Supercross Championship, or last year’s title sweep, or Tim Gajser’s red plate in MXGP. The new bikes are better for the factory racers and for those looking to be the best at their own track. That’s because they’re born from championships—born from the best.
