Round ten of the 2024 AMA Pro Motocross Championship will take place this Saturday in Mechanicsville, Maryland, at the Yamaha Racing Budds Creek National. Check out the report below for a look at who’s getting back to racing, and who will miss the action due to injury.
450 Class
Justin Barcia – Knees | TBD
Barcia has missed the last few races in an attempt to let his hurt knees heal up. It was thought he’d be back for Unadilla, but his knees weren’t ready yet. At time of posting we hadn’t received confirmation from the team regarding his status for Budds Creek.
Matt Burkeen – Knee | In
Burkeen has riding with a hurt knee the last few weeks. He hasn’t had an MRI yet to confirm the damage, but he suspects one of his ligaments “has left the chat.” He’s going to give it a go at Budds Creek.
Derek Drake – Back | Out
BarX Suzuki have been hoping Drake would be able to return to action for the final two rounds after having surgery to deal with a lingering back injury, but unfortunately it didn’t work out. Drake will miss the rest of Pro Motocross.
James Harrington – Shoulder | Out
Harrinton went down in the Consolation Race at Unadilla while battling for a qualifying spot. He’s out for the last two rounds with a fractured scapula.
Jett Lawrence – Thumb | Out
Honda HRC are hopeful Jett Lawrence will be ready for SuperMotocross after fracturing a bone in his thumb and tearing his UCL before RedBud, but as of now, it’s not a sure thing.
Eli Tomac – Thumb | In
Tomac will be back racing for the first time this summer after sustaining a fractured thumb and torn ligaments in his thumb in Denver. The AMA and Team USA will be keeping an eye on him at these final two rounds, as there’s a chance he could still be selected for Team USA.
Cooper Webb - Thumb | Out
Webb returned to racing last week at Unadilla after sustaining a torn UCL in his thumb during supercross. Unfortunately he crashed and hurt the same thumb again in his return. The good news is, he sprained it and the injury isn’t as severe as the first. He’s out for Budds Creek though, and will assess how he’s feeling going into Ironman.
250 Class
Casey Cochran – Arm | TBD
Cochran sustained deep lacerations to his right arm at Unadilla when he went down and landed arm first into another rider’s rear wheel. He’s day-by-day for Budds Creek
Guillem Farres – Femur | Out
Farres was loosely scheduled to return at Unadilla after breaking his femur during supercross, but it turns out he needs an additional surgery to remove the hardware from his femur. He’s out for the season.
Austin Forkner – Spine, Scapula | Out
Forkner is out for 2024 due to a big crash during supercross in which he sustained a broken L3 and L4, and scapula. He also injured his shoulder socket, and sustained bleeding/bruised lungs.
Seth Hammaker – Shoulder | Out
Hammaker hurt his shoulder before the season and will not race any rounds of Pro Motocross.
RJ Hampshire – Wrist | In
Hampshire will make return to racing at Budds Creek after a fractured scaphoid, suffered at media before the first round, delayed his 2024 Pro Motocross debut.
Devin Harriman – Back, Arm | Out
Harriman continues to recover after a big crash in Daytona left him with five broken ribs, a dislocated right wrist, broken scapula, bruised lung, and an injured T5 in his back. You can help him with his recovery by going to Road2Recovery.
Chance Hymas – Banged Up | In
Hymas had a big crash at Unadilla, after which his motorcycle chased him down and dealt him further punishment. Earlier this week Honda HRC told us Hymas was on track to race Budds Creek.
Bailey Kroone – Leg | Out
Kroone is out for the summer after breaking his leg during the second moto at RedBud.
Jeremy Martin – Concussion | Out
Martin is out for the summer due to concussions.
Cameron McAdoo – Shoulder | TBD
McAdoo’s Pro Motocross season was derailed by a shoulder injury before the season even started. He got back on the bike recently, and at time of posting we were told his status was TBD.
Michael Mosiman - Neck | Out
Mosiman will miss all of Pro Motocross this summer due to a neck injury sustained before the season.
Jett Reynolds – Collarbone | Out
Reynolds is out for the summer due to a broken collarbone.
Dilan Schwartz – Wrist | In
Schwartz developed an infection in his wrist after Washougal that was so bad he wasn’t able to train or ride during the break. He went for it at Unadilla, but the pain was too severe to finish the second moto. He’s planning on giving it a go at Budds Creek.
Stilez Robertson – Wrist | Out
Robertson is back on the bike after dealing with a particularly badly broken wrist and complicated recovery. He won’t race at all this summer, but at least he’s finally back on the grind.
Jo Shimoda – Collarbone | Out
Shimoda went down while battling with Levi Kitchen for the lead during the second moto at Unadilla. He’s out for the rest of Pro Motocross.
Nate Thrasher – Collarbone | Out
Thrasher hopes to return for Ironman after breaking his collarbone and bending a previously installed plate.
Max Vohland – Hip | Out
Vohland dislocated his hip early in the season and needed surgery to repair it. Coming out of surgery he developed sciatic nerve issues, which has led to a very long recovery process. He’ll miss the rest of 2024.
