The following statement was released on thursday, april 23:
While the schedule for the championship has not been adjusted in this statement, there is a temporary hold on ticket sales that has been implemented for all 11 scheduled events.
MORGANTOWN, W.Va.—As part of its continued effort to host a successful 2020 season of the Lucas Oil Pro Motocross Championship, presented by AMA Pro Racing, MX Sports Pro Racing and organizers for all 11 rounds of the series are actively adapting to the evolving dynamics associated with COVID-19, and the protocols that will become necessary implementations at events this summer. As a result, a collective decision has been made by all parties to implement a temporary hold on ticket sales efforts, with an emphasis on being properly prepared to address the safety and well being of those in attendance.
“There is nothing more important to MX Sports Pro Racing, the organizers, and the entire motocross community than the return of the Lucas Oil Pro Motocross Championship, and we are making sure we do everything in our power to ensure that a successful 2020 season can get underway this June,” said Roy Janson, MX Sports Pro Racing Competition Director.
The ongoing development of protocols that will need to be implemented this summer are being spearheaded by the Race Leadership Team’s “Safe-to-Race Task Force.” This diverse group of individuals with specific expertise in areas of medical care, public health, government relations, information technology, and event promotion was created to build a framework for motorsports events of all kinds to make an anticipated return. In bringing together a collection of some of the most experienced, knowledgeable, and savvy minds in the industry, the unified development of an informational toolkit will help motorsports organizers at all levels, including national caliber venues and local tracks, navigate the complicated road to reopening.
“As states, counties, and cities across the country begin to take the initial steps towards a return to the resumption of normal life, the ‘Safe-to-Race Task Force’ is serving an invaluable role in the diligent efforts being made to take any necessary steps to provide a safe environment for the Nationals to take place,” continued Janson. “Alongside each organizer, the task force is working closely with the local government and health officials surrounding each venue to determine what the necessary parameters will be for welcoming fans during the 49th season of the world’s most prestigious off-road motorcycle racing series.”
While operational logistics regarding various social distancing measures and potential on-site testing for COVID-19 continue to develop with local officials, which could also require additional adjustments to the 2020 Lucas Oil Pro Motocross Championship schedule, the temporary hold of ticket sales will allow for these updated measures to take effect without further complication. Fans that have already purchased tickets to a 2020 National will not need to take any additional action at this time, but should a refund be necessary, purchasers have until a week before their respective event to take action, even if it’s been rescheduled.
The amended 11-round series for the 2020 season is currently slated to begin with the Florida National, on June 13, and will be followed by the High Point National (June 20), the Southwick National (June 27), the RedBud National (July 4), the Thunder Valley National (July 11), the Spring Creek National (July 18), and the Washougal National (July 25). Following a two week break, the championship will return for its stretch run, beginning with the Unadilla National (August 15), followed by the Budds Creek National (August 22), the Ironman National (August 29), and the Fox Raceway National, which will end the season on Labor Day weekend (September 5).

The following update was released on tuesday, may 19:
The Pro Motocross schedule continues to be dynamic. It is the intent of organizers to conduct the events with fans, which requires elevated social distancing protocols. The phase-in plans for the resumption of large gatherings continues to evolve from state-to-state, with some states having clear guidelines and others not so much. Event organizers continue to work with their local and state officials to develop a suitable timetable for their national event, but the situation is changing rapidly. The current plan is to start the series in July, but to date no exact start date or location has been determined. What has been determined is that RedBud will not be held on July 4th, nor will it be the opening round. The Series will release a month-to-month schedule starting with July in the coming weeks. This roll-out schedule will allow events to be moved as organizers obtain approval from state to state. Although this approach may be unorthodox, it is necessary under the circumstances, and event organizers and series managers appreciate the patience of the riders, teams and fans as we maneuver through these challenging times.
The following statement was released on monday, june 1:
Over the course of the last few weeks, state governments have announced their state-by-state phase-in plans for the resumption of large gatherings, including professional motorsports events. Some states have taken a very restrictive approach to large gatherings (e.g., Michigan, Maryland, Minnesota, Massachusetts and New York), while others have found a more lenient approach acceptable so long as social distancing guidelines are followed (e.g., Indiana, Texas, Tennessee, South Carolina, etc.). These varying state approaches have created unique challenges for the 2020 Lucas Oil Pro Motocross Championship, as several of the preeminent venues are situated in restrictive states that may or may not permit large gatherings during the time frame currently planned for the series.
On May 4th the RLT announced that the series was tentatively set to be held from July 4th through October 3rd. This would leave only 13 days between the end of supercross and the start of motocross. As many states continue to roll out their phase-in plans, it became clear that a further delay in the start of the season would be the most advantageous for the riders, teams, and the events themselves. The farther the series could push back into the summer the better for all. However, there is a hard start of July 18th, this being a live NBC broadcast date – television coverage being paramount for series and team sponsors.
The new plan is to commence the 2020 season on Saturday, July 18th at Ironman Raceway and end on Saturday, October 10th at Fox Raceway at Pala. It is the intent to host 10 events and possibly 11 by the end of the season. Series organizers have consulted with OEM partners and have been advised that given the unexpected boost in off-road motorcycle unit sales and parts and accessories over the course of the last month (with many dealerships and after-market companies experiencing record sales), it would be premature to cut the season short at this time. The better approach would be to give the national tracks time over the course of the summer to see if their states relax their requirements to enable them to hold their national event. We are hopeful that some historical venues may be able to return to the schedule but recognize that others may not. Hence, the schedule will be rolled out on a month-to-month basis as racetracks and state officials continue to develop their plans.
Besides the Ironman and Fox Raceway dates, the Series is prepared to announce a surprise for the 2020 season. For the first time ever a pro national will be held at Loretta Lynn’s on the historical AMA Amateur National Motocross Championship racetrack in Hurricane Mills, Tennessee. The national will be held in August and will serve as a sort of homecoming for pro riders who have graduated from these familiar grounds. Though Loretta Lynn’s is not a traditional pro national venue, these are not traditional times, and series managers are working hard to schedule nationals at venues in states that are open for business.
In addition to the above, it is the current plan to include the following traditional venues on the schedule: Washougal, WW Ranch and High Point. These venues are located in states that have established clear phase-in guidelines that can be timely met. In addition to Loretta Lynn’s, it is highly likely that two more new venues will be added to the schedule based on the states where they are located. Dates will be rolled out at a later date.
All events, no matter their location, will be conducted with fans with elevated social distancing protocols in compliance with CDC guidelines and as recommended by the Safe-to-Race Task Force. These protocols, currently under development, will be announced at a later date.

The following statement was released on wednesday, june 10:
After considerable communication between race organizers, local government, and local health officials, MX Sports Pro Racing has confirmed that the opening two rounds of the 2020 Lucas Oil Pro Motocross Championship, sanctioned by AMA Pro Racing, will be permitted to allow spectator attendance. The season opening Circle K Ironman National will be held in Crawfordsville, Indiana’s Ironman Raceway on July 18, followed by the WW Ranch National from Jacksonville, Florida’s WW Motocross Park on July 25.
“While all of our championship venues have been permitted to reopen for recreational use, there are still varying state-by-state regulations that prevent many of them from allowing spectators at an organized sporting event,” said Roy Janson, MX Sports Pro Racing Competition Director. “As a result, the 2020 Lucas Oil Pro Motocross Championship schedule will be rolled out in phases as additional venues are given the green light to welcome fans. Each event organizer is in constant contact with their local government and health officials in order to ensure that a fan-attended event adheres to all health and safety measures implemented by the county, and we’re confident that approach will allow us to have a proper championship calendar that allows for the return of spectators, and follows social distancing guidelines.”
Both the Ironman National and WW Ranch National, along with each remaining round on the 2020 Lucas Oil Pro Motocross Championship schedule, will be hosted in compliance with social distancing guidelines that have been established from ongoing communication between local officials. A significant component of those guidelines will be eliminating spectator interaction from competitors and their teams, members of the media, as well as all event staff, meaning paddock access will be limited to credentialed personnel only.
Additional details surrounding the implementation of social distancing policies at the 2020 Lucas Oil Pro Motocross Championship will be announced at a later date.
The following statement was released on friday, june 12:
MX Sports Pro Racing has announced the first two rounds of the 2020 series. Additional rounds will be announced as the states advance through their phase-in recovery plans to allow large gatherings.
All rounds will be held with fans, although the pro pits will be closed to the general public. Tickets for the first two rounds are now available.
The following statement was released on wednesday, june 24:
The 125 All Star Series will not take place during the 2020 Lucas Oil AMA Pro Motocross Championship. The full press release:
MORGANTOWN, W.Va.—MX Sports Pro Racing, organizers of the Lucas Oil Pro Motocross Championship, sanctioned by AMA Pro Racing, have announced the difficult decision to forego the 125 All-Star Series for the 2020 season. The choice to suspend the amateur exhibition series comes as a result of thorough social distancing policies that have been established for implementation this summer, developed both in accordance with CDC guidelines in addition to working alongside local government and health officials in the counties surrounding each respective venue.
“We understand this news is not something anyone in the racing community wanted to hear, and it wasn’t a decision that we came to lightly,” said Tim Cotter, MX Sports Pro Racing Event Director. “As we continuously work towards creating a safe environment for an opportunity to welcome fans throughout the 2020 season, we are also actively developing a paddock layout that appropriately addresses social distancing measures that ensure the health and well-being of our athletes, their team members, and their families. As a result, there will be a limited occupancy within the paddock, for which we need to prioritize our professional competitors.
“We want to emphasize that this is a temporary course of action, predicated on proactive measures to address the spread of the COVID-19 coronavirus,” added Cotter. “The addition of the 125 All-Star Series has been a tremendous asset to the Lucas Oil Pro Motocross Championship, as fans have had the privilege of basking in the one-of-a-kind sounds emitted from beloved two-stoke motorcycles. We know the importance of the role this division plays into the ethos of American motocross, and that’s why we look forward to its return for the 2021 season.”
As the Lucas Oil Pro Motocross Championship season nears its start on July 18 with the Circle K Ironman National from Crawfordsville, Indiana’s Ironman Raceway, fans expecting to attend the opening round, or any round on the 2020 schedule, should take care to review the COVID-19 Social Distancing Protocols being implemented this summer.

The following statement was released on wednesday, july 1:
While the first two rounds of the 2020 Lucas Oil Pro Motocross Championship were recently announced, the start of the championship has been postponed temporarily. "MX Sports Pro Racing will now look to begin the season in August."
Below is the full press release for MX Sports Pro Racing:
MORGANTOWN, W.Va.—Despite the tireless and sustained efforts on behalf of both series and event organizers, MX Sports Pro Racing has made the difficult decision to further postpone the start of the 2020 Lucas Oil Pro Motocross Championship, sanctioned by AMA Pro Racing. The previously announced opening pair of events were slated to begin in just over two weeks, on July 18, with the Circle K Ironman National in Indiana, followed by the GEICO Motorcycle WW Ranch National in Florida on July 25. However, due to ongoing concerns surrounding the COVID-19 pandemic, notably recent spikes of positive cases in a significant number of states, series managers deem it necessary to push back the start of the series once more. MX Sports Pro Racing will now look to begin the season in August.
“From the moment we were forced to delay the original start of the 2020 Lucas Oil Pro Motocross Championship in May, we have diligently worked towards developing as complete a championship-caliber calendar as possible for both our athletes and our fans,” said Carrie Russell, CEO of MX Sports Pro Racing. “In tandem with our event organizers, we have been in constant communication with local officials from the government, health department, and department of public safety for each respective venue to ensure every National is operated in accordance with social distancing measures established by each county and the CDC.
“Following the recent spike in positive cases around the country, a pause is warranted as we evaluate the impact of the stall in state-issued reopening phases and newly implemented travel quarantines,” continued Russell. “Our manufacturers are the lifeblood of American motocross, and we stand by them with our support in times of need. As a result of recent developments, MX Sports Pro Racing needs to take the definitive and proactive step of postponing the start of the season temporarily, which will allow us to work through the current challenges we face.”
In response to this latest decision, MX Sports Pro Racing and event organizers will continue to maintain extensive communication with local officials. The evolution of the pandemic has included dramatic changes from one week to the next, and as states and counties take necessary action to confront the latest concerns of the coronavirus spread, MX Sports Pro Racing will be in a position to take immediate action when the opportunity arises to confirm events at a future date when the time is right.
“It is our sole focus to host a successful season that will not only allow us to crown a pair of AMA National Champions, but will also allow our incredibly loyal fanbase to celebrate the return of racing by cheering on their favorite riders,” concluded Russell. “These are extraordinary times that have had a significant impact on our industry, and that has called for us to take unprecedented action on behalf of the well-being of our community. This sport is a family, and we will not be deterred from accomplishing our goal, despite this adversity. We remain steadfast in bringing everyone the 2020 Lucas Oil Pro Motocross Championship they deserve. Our event organizers have put in far too much effort, while our broadcast partners, series sponsors, manufacturers, participants, and fans have all shown tremendous patience. We owe it to all of them to bring this season to fruition, and we’ll do everything in our power to make that happen.”
Online tickets previously purchased for the Ironman and WW Ranch Nationals will be honored at the to-be-announced rescheduled dates. Refund requests will be honored by contacting the respective event organizers.

MORGANTOWN, W.Va. – Following extensive efforts by race organizers, local government and health officials, participants, sponsors, and series partners, MX Sports Pro Racing has announced the intention to host a nine-round schedule to complete the 2020 Lucas Oil Pro Motocross Championship, sanctioned by AMA Pro Racing. The season is scheduled to begin on August 15, with the inaugural professional event at famed Loretta Lynn’s Ranch in Hurricane Mills, Tennessee. The next eight rounds will take place at well-known venues ranging from Washougal MX Park in Washington to Spring Creek MX Park in Millville, Minnesota. The 2020 series will also feature the first-ever Pro Motocross “doubleheader” at RedBud MX in Buchanan, Michigan.
The first half of the season will open with five consecutive rounds. Following the debut of the Loretta Lynn’s National, the schedule will then travel to the scenic Pacific Northwest for the Washougal National, on August 22, before heading to the greater Indianapolis area for the Ironman National, on August 29. From there, Michigan’s legendary RedBud MX will give way to the season’s lone off weekend after it hosts a pair of races around the Labor Day holiday, on Saturday, September 5, and Tuesday, September 8. Racing will resume with the Spring Creek National in Minnesota, on September 19, before heading to Florida for the WW Ranch National, on September 26. The penultimate round of the championship will take place in Colorado with the Thunder Valley National, on October 3, before crowning a pair of champions in Southern California at the season-ending Fox Raceway National, on October 10.
All events on the 2020 schedule will adhere to social distancing guidelines and health management protocols. Each round will be conducted in accordance with local and state ordinances, as identified between the event organizer and local officials. The paddock will be closed to the general public, with access limited to properly credentialed parties only and facemasks required at all times. Hand-washing stations and hand sanitizer stands will be placed throughout the venues and personal hygiene education signage will be prominent.
“While we continue to navigate through these challenging and continuously evolving times of the coronavirus pandemic, we are confident that we’ve developed the framework for a high-caliber championship schedule that can be successfully implemented,” said Roy Janson, MX Sports Pro Racing Competition Director. “Although we respect the unpredictability of scheduling any live events during these uncertain times and are sensitive to the hardships many people are going through, we remain committed to making our best effort to host the world’s most prestigious motocross championship. Thanks to the tireless and cooperative efforts of our event organizers, competitors, sponsors and partners, not to mention the ongoing communication alongside local officials, we have an opportunity to prioritize the health and well-being of everyone. We will conduct these events in a safe environment by implementing several policies, all in an effort to control as many variables as possible.”
Select events will feature limited spectator capacity, while others will be conducted exclusively for participants, professional and amateur, with attendance limited to crew members and family. All events will feature an amateur racing component, both before and after the professional race day. Ticketing and amateur race program information will be posted Monday, July 20, on the event websites.
“From the moment we faced our first bout of adversity surrounding the coronavirus we have diligently tried to find a way to make the 2020 Lucas Oil Pro Motocross Championship a reality,” said Davey Coombs, President of MX Sports Pro Racing. “Needless to say, it’s been a tumultuous year for everyone, and I think we’re on Plan ‘W’ by now. But we’re racers at heart, and our business is founded on bringing together fellow racers for some of the world’s most competitive and high-profile off-road motorcycle events. We know the motocross community is as passionate about this championship as we are, as it’s the lifeblood of the sport, and it’s been our goal to bring everyone, from riders to fans alike, the series they deserve. We’re confident that this schedule will accomplish that, and we look forward to providing the joy and sense of normalcy that American motocross can bring during these incredibly uncertain times.”

MORGANTOWN, W.Va.—With the start of the 2020 season approaching, MX Sports Pro Racing has announced that tickets to select rounds of the Lucas Oil Pro Motocross Championship, sanctioned by AMA Pro Racing, are now available. Due to limitations surrounding COVID-19, spectator attendance at designated events will feature limited capacity, where access will be confined to public areas and social distancing guidelines will be implemented. The 2020 season officially gets underway with the inaugural Circle K Loretta Lynn’s National on August 15, for which ticketing is now open.
“We’re pleased to have the opportunity to reopen the ticket purchasing process for our passionate and loyal fans. We commend them for their patience in waiting for the start of the 2020 Lucas Oil Pro Motocross Championship. It’s been a challenging year for all of us, but a return to racing is just around the corner, and fans will have the chance to let out all those months of pent up energy by cheering on their favorite riders once again,” said Davey Coombs, President of MX Sports Pro Racing. “Even though things are going to look and feel a little different this season, we eagerly await the ability to bring American motocross back to those who serve as the lifeblood of the industry.”
In addition to Loretta Lynn’s, tickets are also available for both the Ironman National (August 29) and GEICO Motorcycle WW Ranch National (September 26). Tickets for the remaining rounds of the 2020 schedule will be made available at a later date. Moreover, due to the inability to host large gatherings in certain states, spectators will not be permitted at every event. Currently, the MotoSport.com Washougal National (August 22) and the RedBud National (September 4 & 7) will be exclusive to competitors.
Additionally, MX Sports Pro Racing has confirmed that the dates for the first ever RedBud doubleheader will move from September 5 and September 8, to Friday, September 4, and Labor Day, on Monday, September 7, in an effort to better accommodate the needs of participants.
“After thorough communication with our participating manufacturers and teams, it is in the best interest of all parties to move up the dates of the RedBud National on Labor Day weekend,” said Roy Janson, Managing Director of MX Sports Pro Racing. “There are several benefits to making this change, both for the competitors and the series, and should make for a more compelling scenario for this historic event.”
Due to the continually evolving nature of implementing a 2020 season, MX Sports Pro Racing will honor any event tickets that were purchased prior to the temporary postponement of the season. Full refunds may be issued to individuals who either cannot attend the updated race date, or for those who purchased tickets to an event that has been canceled. Concerned parties are encouraged to contact each event organizer directly, either through the track website or via a direct message on Facebook.

“We’ve enjoyed a spectacular first half of the 2020 season, in which three different riders have emerged victorious in both the 450 Class and 250 Class. The amount of parity that’s been on display so far is at an all-time high, and we’re eager to see how the rest of the season unfolds,” said Davey Coombs, President of MX Sports Pro Racing. “To make it even better, as fall rapidly approaches we should be in store for cooler temperatures and ideal weather for the remainder of the championship. What better way to take advantage of these pristine spectating conditions than to buy a ticket to a National, partake in some social distancing, and watch the finest motocross racers on the planet duke it out on the track.”
The battle for the 450 Class title is currently being led by Rockstar Energy Husqvarna Factory Racing’s Zach Osborne, who has built a 28-point lead thanks to a class-leading three victories. He’s being pursued by Red Bull KTM Factory Racing’s Marvin Musquin, who is still chasing his first win of 2020, as well as the Monster Energy Kawasaki duo of Adam Cianciarulo, who broke through for his first career 450 Class victory, and Eli Tomac, the reigning three-time series champion. Over in the 250 Class, a two-rider showdown has taken shape between GEICO Honda’s Jeremy Martin, a two-time titleholder who currently sits atop the standings, and Monster Energy/Star/Yamaha Racing’s Dylan Ferrandis, who currently faces a nine-point deficit to his rival.
The THOR Spring Creek National will kick off the second half of the championship next Saturday, September 19, from Minnesota’s Spring Creek MX Park for the sixth round of the season. The GEICO Motorcycle WW Ranch National from Florida’s WW Motocross Park will follow on Saturday, September 26, with the penultimate WPS/Fly Racing Thunder Valley National from Colorado’s Thunder Valley Motocross Park taking place on Saturday, October 3. The 2020 Monster Energy Cup has been canceled.
Here is the full statement from Feld Entertainment.
Monster Energy Supercross was the first pro sport to successfully complete the 2020 season with an adjusted schedule this year. The goal was to bring live racing to fans and crown three new champions in a safe environment. Without fans in attendance for the final 7 races, Supercross continued to have a strong presence on both TV and digital platforms. Viewership was up 29% in 2020 and Supercross was one of the most popular programs on NBCSN in the first quarter. Over 2.4 million fans visited SupercrossLIVE, while over 5.5 million people followed a Supercross social platform generating over 18.8 million social engagements during the season.
Feld Motor Sports continues to look towards the future for Supercross fans and its athletes and is eager for next season. Unfortunately, the Monster Energy Cup that had been scheduled for October 10 at Dignity Health Sports Park in Carson, CA will not be feasible this year, due to other leagues starting their seasons and the difficulty of securing an appropriate location to host the event in the fall. In conjunction with the Monster Energy Cup, the 2020 Supercross Futures AMA National Championship will also be cancelled.

Due to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic and the global restrictions put in place for safety reasons, many of the 2020 events have been forced to be rescheduled to a later date.
Regarding the FIM 85cc and 125cc Junior Motocross World Championships and the FIM 65cc Junior Motocross World Cup organized for young riders from all over the world, the event could not be rescheduled beyond the end of August, as many of the riders aged between 10-17 years old will be back at school / college, and it was considered that their education remains the absolute priority.
We look forward to 2021 when we will see the return of the highly anticipated youth event. We would like to thank the FIM, the local organizer, as well as all participants and our fans for their continued support during this difficult period.
The following update was released on friday, june 12:

Additionally, the MXGP of Russia will be moved from the 2nd of August to a later date in October/November, with a confirmed scheduling of the event to be announced based on the evolution of the pandemic and the possibility of travel.
Infront Moto Racing, along with the FIM and the FIM Europe, is working closely with the local governments, national federations and the local organizers on a daily basis to have a final calendar in the coming weeks to continue the awaited 2020 FIM Motocross World Championship.
Infront Moto Racing’s goal is to hold with 10-12 events set to take place in Europe between the middle of August and the end of October, including the best off road event of the year, the Monster Energy FIM Motocross World Championship which is held in Ernèe, France on September the 26th and 27th. Here's a few key takeaways from this schedule announcement:
- Racing resumes in August
- Multi rounds per track at some locations (similar to how Monster Energy AMA Supercross raced in Salt Lake City, Utah)
- MXoN moves to UK and counts for points in the MXGP and MX2 championships
MONACO (Principality of Monaco)—It is with great pleasure that Infront Moto Racing can finally reveal the updated 2020 FIM Motocross World Championship calendar, as the series will make its much-anticipated return following a four month break due to the COVID-19 outbreak.
During the last four months, Infront Moto Racing alongside the FIM, National Federations and Organizers have been continuously in contact and weekly discussions with local governments have taken place, in order to determine the best way to re-start the FIM Motocross World Championships and the Motocross European Championships. The common goal has remained to preserve the maximum number of events in order to make a credible Championship, supporting all the stakeholders with the aim of saving the jobs of everyone in our sport.
Now even if the situation has not yet become completely clear with regards to COVID-19 our sport starts to see the light at the end of the tunnel, and with the calendar announced today MXGP will concentrate very intense Championships in 3 months managing to run all the classes with a very good number of events and ensuring an exciting racing.
The season will resume with a triple race in Kegums for the MXGP of Latvia, Riga and Kegums, with the first event scheduled on the 8-9 of August, followed by a mid-week special on the 11-12 of August, and the final Latvian stop concluding on the 15-16 of August. The Latvian circuit will undergo changes for each event, providing the riders with 3 completely different racetracks. As it stands, in Latvia there will be a total of 1,000 spectators permitted, with a promise that if the situation improves, we could see this number increasing.
The updated calendar will unfortunately see the cancellation of the MXGP of Czech Republic, the MXGP of Sweden and MXGP of Finland from the 2020 MXGP calendar with all being postponed to 2021. While this year we will have to miss the Finnish Grand Prix, Infront Moto Racing and Lahti Events Ltd. are pleased to confirm the continuing agreement that will foresee the MXGP in Finland next season in 2021 and present there until 2023, meaning a one year extension compared to its initial set term.
The MXGP of Germany, previously as TBA, as well as the MXGP of Indonesia and Asia scheduled to be held in November have been also postponed to 2021 while the MXGP of Emilia Romagna changed the venue hosting a double-race in Faenza—
Unfortunately, the Monster Energy FIM Motocross of Nations in Ernée, France has been postponed to 2023 due to the high restrictions for COVID-19 which forbid mass public gatherings in France. Infront Moto Racing are now working with Steve Dixon to bring the 2020 Monster Energy FIM MXoN to Matterley Basin (UK); the event, which is nearly 3 months away will conform to the outdoor event guidance regulations.
From September onwards, at almost every event we can have spectator number limits in place, but we hope that by then the situation will be much better, and we will have the possibility to welcome larger crowds. Every country has different protocols concerning the COVID-19 restrictions, therefore prior to each event we will inform all the stakeholders, media and fans concerning the specific restrictions they will need to follow.
With many events running consecutively one after the other, in order to provide the riders with a better recovery period, the MXGP and MX2 race action will be concentrated into one day, with free/timed practice taking place in the morning and the main races starting from 12h00 into the afternoon. Whereas the day before each event the European Championship and/or the Women’s World Championship will be run.
At the Monster Energy FIM MXoN the participants will take points for the MXGP and MX2 World Championships, Infront Moto Racing and FIM are working on the regulations keeping in mind the format, the principle and the soul of the MXoN to be maintained.
As always, fans will be able to follow all the race action of each MXGP, MX2, European and Women’s Championship race on the MXGP-TV.com, with more information on the new packages to be given shortly, and also via all our TV broadcasters.
It has been an extremely demanding task to put together this new calendar and Infront Moto racing would not have been able to do so without the support of the manufacturers, partners, riders, teams and fans and we would like to thank you all for your patience, understanding and support throughout this period. Now we look forward to making a return to racing and continuing the much-anticipated 2020 season.

GNCC originally scheduled for April 4/5 at Steele Creek in Morgantown, NC, is now cancelled.
The following update was released on Tuesday, March 17:
Due to ongoing COVID-19 concerns, the GNCC originally scheduled for April 4/5 at Steele Creek in Morgantown, NC, is now cancelled. The event was initially cancelled for the Steele Creek location only, with the date reserved for another location to be announced. However, given the current crisis in our country, GNCC now deems is prudent to cancel the date as well. Pre-entered riders will have their entries refunded.
Rescheduling details will be announced in the near future. Most likely the previously reserved July 11/12 "Rain Date" will be utilized for this purpose.
The Series will resume April 18/19 at the Camp Coker Bullet in Society Hill, South Carolina.
GNCC Racing continues to urge the sick and the vulnerable (the elderly and those with underlying health conditions or compromised immune systems) to avoid large events and public gatherings, including GNCC events. GNCC Racing will comply with restrictions imposed by federal, state and local authorities, including the Center for Disease Control and Prevention ("CDC") and the World Health Organization ("WHO") regarding this matter.
In the meantime, GNCC reminds its racing family to use common sense: 1) wash your hands often; 2) avoid shaking hands or coming into close personal contact with others; 3) if you are sick, stay home; 4) if you are really sick, go to the hospital; and 5) don't panic. Until further notice, autograph sessions with riders are suspended. Additional hand-washing stations will be onsite at all events.
The health, safety and welfare of our riders, teams and fans remains paramount, and we will keep our race community apprised of all further developments.

If you are unable to attend the newly announced venue, please send an email to info@gnccracing.com requesting a refund.
High Voltage joined the GNCC circuit last year in July as the ‘reserved rain date’ race, however the off-road racing history goes well beyond just last year. Landowner Warren Lilly is a long-time GNCC competitor, and his venue has hosted several local racing events and private ride days. You will find similar terrain to the recently run High Point GNCC, with some fun rolling hills and a bit of black dirt mixed with gray clay. The existing trails include some fast and flowing sections along with tight and technical spots as well.
For more information about the High Voltage GNCC, and its surrounding areas, visit the High Voltage GNCC page on the GNCC Racing website. Special events happening at round eight will include ePeeWee (STACYC) Racing on Saturday, July 11 at 6:30 p.m. followed by Team Faiths Non-Denominational Church Service with Chuck Lemaster at 7 p.m. ET.
The following update was released on wednesday, august 12:
The 2020 Snowshoe GNCC has been cancelled.
MORGANTOWN, W.Va.—Racer Productions, Inc., producers for the Grand National Cross Country (GNCC) Series presented by Specialized, an AMA National Championship, is saddened to announce that the 2020 Snowshoe GNCC event along with Yamaha’s GNCC University has been cancelled. These events will not be rescheduled for the current season. However, a new location will be announced for racing on September 26 and 27 at a later date.
“We are very disappointed to have to make this decision, but together with Snowshoe’s senior leadership team we have determined that we cannot safely conduct the event in 2020,” said GNCC Event Director Tim Cotter.
Cotter continued, “the Snowshoe event is much different than any other GNCC involving many areas in which we cannot social distance. The Snowshoe Village and Monster concerts have been iconic, and attract thousands of people confined in a small area. In addition the Snowshoe event requires the use of several mass transit mechanisms such as buses and ski lifts, of which would be nearly impossible to sanitize.”
Snowshoe released in a statement today:
“Due to the continuously evolving circumstances surrounding COVID-19, we have made the difficult decision to cancel the GNCC and GNCC University events scheduled for September 24-27. We value our partnership with Racer Productions and thank everyone for their support of this fantastic event over the years. We look forward to hosting it again in the summer of 2021. For GNCC guests with reservations on the books, our travel planners will be reaching out directly.”
Guests will be contacted by a Snowshoe Travel Planner, and will be able to receive a full refund, including fees associated with the Yamaha GNCC University. If you rented from a third-party, you will need to contact your relator for cancellation.
The Series will resume from its summer break at The Mountaineer in Beckley, West Virginia on September 12 and 13.
GNCC Racing continues to urge the sick and the vulnerable (the elderly and those with underlying health conditions or compromised immune systems) to avoid large events and public gatherings, including GNCC events. GNCC Racing will comply with restrictions imposed by federal, state and local authorities, including the Center for Disease Control and Prevention (“CDC”) and the World Health Organization (“WHO”) regarding this matter.
In the meantime, GNCC reminds its racing family to use common sense: 1) wash your hands often; 2) avoid shaking hands or coming into close personal contact with others; 3) if you are sick, stay home; 4) if you are really sick, go to the hospital; and 5) don’t panic. Until further notice, autograph sessions with riders are suspended. Additional hand-washing stations will be onsite at all events.
The health, safety and welfare of our riders, teams and fans remains paramount, and we will keep our race community apprised of all further developments.

MX Sports' State of the Sport Address from April 8:
The MX Sports #SafeToRace strategy has been created, and we will go racing when it is safe to race. At this point, as it relates to the AMA Amateur National program, we have several plans in place to move forward. Each plan has been developed based on an anticipated Safe to Race date. Please see below for a detailed plan of the scenarios:
Plan A: was adopted with the initial cancelation and postponement of the all Area Qualifiers thru the month of April.
Plan B: All Area Qualifiers will start at the beginning of May and run thru the first weekend in June. This will require several Area Qualifiers to run in the same region and on the same weekend. As part of this plan, the Regional schedule will be modified and include the July 4th weekend. The National at Loretta Lynn’s will race as scheduled. However, please know that if we cannot start racing in the first few weeks of May, we will have to move on to Plan C.
Plan C: Will begin by removing the Area Qualifier system and move to a Super Regional schedule. This would require Three Regional Championship events to run in each Region: A Youth, Amateur and Vet Regional. Several of the Youth Classes will be moved to the Amateur Regional and all of the Vet Classes will create the Vet Regional. The National at Loretta Lynn’s will race as scheduled.
Plan D: Will begin by removing the Area Qualifier and Regional Championship system and expand the National Championship into two weeks of racing. One week of racing for Youth and another week of racing for Amateur. This plan is a bit down the road and a lot can and will happen between now and then.
Loretta Lynn’s has been a seed bed for motocross racers around the globe. It’s soil has produced the icons of our sport and will continue to do so.

Yesterday MX Sports announced the Regional Schedule for the 2020 season. Regional Championships will be held in eight different regions nationwide from the first weekend in June through the first weekend in July. Details on the full schedule are now available.
The following update was posted on thursday, july 2:
Watch the archive of a Facebook Live video where MX Sports Pro Racing event director Tim Cotter explains the latest press release announcement that the start of the 2020 Lucas Oil AMA Pro Motocross Championship was postponed temporarily and the plan to continue to race the 2020 Monster Energy AMA Amateur National Motocross Championship.
Cotter said in the video he has attended a Loretta Lynn regional qualifier for the last four weeks and knows the amount of hard work each and every rider and family has put in to their racing. He and the Race Leadership Team (consisting of representatives from the AMA, MX Sports, and MX Sports Pro Racing) and the Safe-To-Race Task Force are going to continue to work together with hopes of successfully and safely hosting both the amateur (Loretta Lynn's) and professional (Lucas Oil AMA Pro Motocross Championship) championships this year.
“The reason for our Facebook Live here today is to sort of put everyone at ease,” Cotter said in the video. “In light of the announcement yesterday that MX Sports Pro Racing is postponing the Lucas Oil AMA Pro Motocross [Championship] season temperately. It is not canceled, we are just pushing the season back…we believe that we will be racing Lucas Oil AMA Pro Motocross in the middle of August. But for now because of the current situation in our country and in our world, we have sort of pumped the breaks just a bit. However, let me be clear, Loretta Lynn’s is still on schedule.”
Cotter said the Monster Energy AMA Amateur National Motocross Championship is still on schedule for August 3-8, 2020. In the video, he explains some of the guidelines for the Monster Energy AMA Amateur National Motocross Championships and more information on these guidelines with be released shortly.
"I just ask you all to have patience and cooperate with us. Let's get through this together, it isn't easy for any of us," said Cotter.
“We can agree to disagree but I can tell you the way we’re able to go racing is if we do the things we promised we would do. I ask you to help us in that endeavor,” he continued.
Visit ProMotocross.com or MXSports.com (Loretta Lynn's) to stay up-to-date on the latest information.

The health and safety of everyone involved in our sport continues to remain our top priority, and it is for this reason that we will continue to assess the situation ahead of the remaining events within the CDC’s recommended eight-week window of caution. Because of this, ticket sales for the May 2 Texas Half-Mile and May 9 So-Cal Half-Mile have been postponed until further notice. As more information is available within the coming weeks, specific announcements regarding those two events will follow.
Advance ticket holders are offered equivalent admission for any other AFT Events race occurring within the next 18 calendar months. Contact tickets@americanflattrack.com for inquiries and requests.
We value all of our fans and appreciate your understanding while we continue to monitor the situation.

The following update was released on friday, may 22:
DAYTONA BEACH, Fla.—American Flat Track announced today a relaunch of its 2020 race schedule featuring doubleheader race weekends and kicking off on July 17 and 18 with the Volusia Half-Mile at Volusia Speedway Park in Barberville, Fla. The revised schedule features 18 races over nine doubleheader weekends and culminates in a two-day finale during Biketoberfest in Daytona Beach.
In addition to NBC Sports coverage on NBCSN and live streaming of all 18 events via TrackPass on NBC Sports Gold, AFT has worked diligently toward the goal of having fan attendance at all of its venues. This would include the implementation of new health & safety protocols that will help provide a safe environment for fans, competitors and staff, including reduced capacity, staggered seating, mobile ticketing, cashless transactions and enhanced sanitation.
AFT officials continue to collaborate with public health experts to develop this comprehensive plan in accordance with all federal, state and local requirements. All race-day procedures have been thoroughly reviewed and will continue to be examined and updated to follow specific guidelines set by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) and local authorities.
At all American Flat Track events new guidelines and protocols will include:
- Reduction in ticket availability to conform with state and local guidelines for sporting events
- Reserved seating areas to include buffer zones to provide ample space between fans
- Fans entering the venue will be provided with complimentary facial coverings
- Enhanced sanitation and disinfection protocols with frequent cleaning throughout the facility
- Enhancements to mobile ticketing and elimination of printed tickets
- Cashless, contactless transactions for concessions and merchandise
- Regular medical screening of staff and competitors
As an additional precaution, there will be no public access to the paddock area and AFT officials have suspended Fan Walk, rider autograph sessions and paddock upgrades for the remainder of the season. Event-specific health & safety procedures will be updated to meet or exceed state and local requirements as they are updated over the coming months. Through an updated communication protocol, AFT and its promoter partners will provide regular updates to fans via press releases, website updates, social media posts, email distribution and text messaging.
Careful consideration has been given to secure a full 18-round race schedule that is logistically possible for riders, teams and staff, while also providing the opportunity for fan attendance. Following a thorough review of state guidelines and consultation with local officials by AFT’s promoter partners, certain events that were originally scheduled for 2020 have been cancelled. All ticketholders for cancelled events are eligible to receive a full refund or a credit for use at future events. Please contact tickets@americanflattrack.com for more information.

JS7 Spring Championship at Freestone MX
The following update was released on Tuesday, March 17:
Freestone Raceway has decided to cancel 11th Annual James Stewart Spring Championship. Our number one priority is the best interest of our racers, families, industry partners, and keeping them safe. Hour by hour things are changing with the situation of Covid 19. We couldn’t foresee a day ago the news we hear today, and the safety concerns as they escalate daily. It is the most difficult decision we’ve had to make but, it was the best one for the riders and families.
As a whole the way Freestone staff and industry partners all felt Sunday was not how we feel right now.
However, this is just one event to be affected. Not only will other events and race tracks be affected by these same difficult times we are faced with and the impacts received from them but, the families and small businesses that drive the sport we all love will be impacted too.
On behalf of Freestone Raceway family and staff, we are praying for a safe and healthy return home. We hope there is as little impact as possible over the next few months.
We are honoring our refund policy as posted and allowing people plenty of time to prepare for their return home.
Isle of Man TT
The following update was released on Tuesday, March 17:
The popular Isle of Man TT, scheduled to run May 30 through June 13, has been canceled. This, from a report on Autosport.com:
The Isle of Man, and the Isle of Man TT, are faced with unique challenges regarding COVID-19 and making this decision will provide certainty to teams, competitors, sponsors and stakeholders of the event and to visitors across the globe,” said Laurence Skelly, Minister for Enterprise for the Isle of Man.
"The decision also aims to provide reassurance for our residents and healthcare professionals that the health and well-being of the Isle of Man's residents is the single biggest priority and focus of this Government."
At present, August's Manx Grand Prix and Classic TT events have not been put on hold.
Dutch Masters
The 2020 Dutch Masters in Europe has been cancelled. The series will return in 2021.
The following update was released on thursday, March 19:
The clubs were ready – an impressive field of top riders was ready – but unfortunately Dutch Masters of Motocross 2020 is cancelled. It was a tough decision for the KNMV and partners, but the impact of the coronavirus crisis makes it impossible to push through for this season.
Due to the measures taken against the coronavirus, the curtain for the opening round in Harfsen on March 29 already fell last week. In addition, we are dealing with changes in the MXGP calendar. As a result, the Dutch Masters final for the 250cc and 500cc at the Zwarte Cross already became a no-go. Other free weekends are also filling up fast. That makes moving race days difficult, if not without a chance. In short: There is no longer a possibility to hold a full-fledged Dutch Masters of Motocross competition in 2020.
Your Health.
Moreover, there are currently more important issues in society than motocross. The health and safety of riders, teams, fans and all volunteers at the organising clubs is always our priority. This is a tough pill to swallow not just for the KNMV, but especially for the organising clubs MC Hamac Harfsen, Stichting Circuit Oldebroek, MACRO Rhenen and MACL/Zwarte Cross and all their volunteers. They would love to have had a great season with the riders, teams and sponsors.
2021
This must now wait until 2021. Thanks to the support of our main sponsors Jumbo and Red Bull, we can continue the competition next year! In the meantime, the KNMV is looking at possibilities to add a number of regular ONK races to the 2020 motocross calendar. We are also working on a new programme for the Friday (July 17) and Sunday (July 19) of the Zwarte Cross.
Kenda AMA National Enduro Series
The following update was released on Monday, March 16:
- Round 2 – Caprock National Enduro – POSTPONED
Caprock Canyon, Round 2 of the 2020 Kenda AMA National Enduro Series Postponed
With the escalation of the corona virus over recent days and further restrictions by federal and state authorities, the NEPG has decided that it is in the best interest of riders, their families and all others involved to postpone the Caprock National Enduro.
With the Corona Virus being wide spread and many riders and their families traveling though many states across the country with varying levels of travel restrictions, along with more and more amenities being shut down, we feel it would be best to postpone the event to a later date. It is the goal of the NEPG along with dedicated clubs that we work with to have a fun and safe event where we can share camaraderie as a group of fellow motorcyclists.
We are working with the Post Enduro Association, TSCEC and RMEC to find an open date to reschedule the event and will release that along with refund information when it becomes available.

The following update was released on Friday, March 20:
To Our WORCS Family,
We wanted to reach out and say thank you from the bottom of our hearts for all the overwhelming amount of love and support all of you have shown in the last week. WORCS racers are truly the BEST!
As of right now the WORCS office staff is working on several game plans that we can put into action as soon as the time comes.
WORCS is first and foremost trying to get back to racing ASAP.
Second we are working on making sure we still have a championship series; our goal is to have at least an 8 round series still, if not more.
With that being said, we may be doubling up rounds (having more rounds like the Havasu format) to make sure we still provide racers with more opportunities to race and earn points.
Please note that we may be changing our race format, race weekend schedule and future dates to make all of this happen.
There is still a lot of unknowns right now, and like everyone else, we won't have really have a true clear answer until the end of March. We will keep you all as up to date as we can during this time.
Again we thank you for your patience and understanding during this time.
Don't forget, the desert is always open!
The following update was released on Monday, March 23:
- Blythe, California, round at Shorty's Sports Park - POSTPONED
Here is our latest scheduling update:
Unfortunately, as of today, the Blythe round at Shorty's Sports Park (April 10-12th for ATV/SXS and April 17-19th for MC) will have to be postponed. We, along with the staff at Shorty's MX, were hopeful that that the original paper work and mandates provided would last until the end of March. However, the facility has had to place a hold on all events until April 30th. We are so excited to race at Shorty's Sports Park and will let you know as soon as we can when we can reschedule for this awesome track!
We have also spoken with the City of Lake Havasu again. The city is closely monitoring the situation but is also eager to get back up and running with events. If at all possible, we are looking to reschedule and hold Motorcycle Rounds 3 & 4 sometime in late April. The final call on weather or not we can have an event in April will be made shortly after April 1st. We want to provide as much time as possible for people to prepare to race! We are also thinking, if we are able to race in Havasu, of bringing back the ATV/SXS's for another single (not double) round here as well.
Please note that we are providing this info to be very open and keep you in the loop with as much information as possible through these uncertain times. This does not mean the above concerning Havasu will or won't happen, we are just trying our best to give you as much notice and prep time as possible so you can make a decision that is best for you and your family during this time.
With racing being cancelled across all series, and venues having other events cancelled as well, rescheduling any postponed races will be difficult to navigate. We will do our best to give you at least a two-week notice before any schedule changes occur.
We are trying to navigate uncharted waters and truly do appreciate everyone's support at this time. We know that when things get back up and running, the schedules may not be ideal for everyone, but our main priority is to get you back to what you love doing the most safely.
Again we thank you for your patience and understanding during this time.
Support your local industry shops, manufactures, and sponsors as much as you can! Pull out those Rocky Mountain ATV/MC Race Gas Cards. Get your bike serviced or suspension, order those parts you have been meaning order, give them a call to find out operating hours and give them a shout on social media, anything helps!
Stay Healthy-Stay Positive- and Keep the Good Vibes Going!

Below is the Updated WORCS 2020 Race Schedule
*** Our Las Vegas round has been cancelled for 2020. With no guarantee the arena will be open in June and the restrictions that would have to be set in place if it does open would make it difficult for us to hold the event. WORCS feels that relocating this round to Lake Havasu will be the best for racers to get back to racing and for WORCS to still be able to have a Championship Series with enough rounds. We look forward to heading back to The Orleans in 2021!
** In regards to Lake Havasu in June, we know this round will be very HOT! However WORCS has raced in Havasu in years past when it was 110 plus degrees. For our MC ATV/ SXS rounds, we will be adjusting race times for the heat, this will be done for the safety of racers and the WORCS track staff. For the MC and ATV's, please note that we will bring the race entry fees down to last year's entry fees for this round only.
** Glen Helen MC is tentatively scheduled as a double round. Please know that this may or may not happen. We want to prepare racers to all situations and it will all depend on if further rounds get cancelled or not. We may also have to make another end of the season round a double round as well. Again, all depends upon how the next few months roll out. **

We know many racers not only race WORCS but another series as well. We are trying our very best to keep other series schedules in mind and not conflict, however with the situation and all series scrambling for dates it makes for a tight and a not so perfect racing schedule.
We know the end of the year will be weekend after weekend of racing and we thank you in advance for you support and being apart of WORCS.
With racing being canceled across all series, and venues having other events canceled as well, rescheduling any postponed races will be difficult to navigate.
The following update was released on Wednesday, May 27:
It is with a heavy heart we have to announce the postponement of our June Havasu events for Motorcycle, ATV and SXSs.
There has been an influx of tourism to Lake Havasu City over the last two weekends and the city officials feel it is best to not hold any major events for the time being to keep the number of people visiting to a minimum.
We can't thank you enough for your steadfast support, patience and flexibility during this constantly changing times.
As always, the entire WORCS staff will be working vigorously to get racing back to a full green light ASAP. We are currently diving head first into track locations for a summer event and potentially holding more double rounds in the fall so you can have the 8-10 round championship series you expect and deserve from WORCS racing.
We will send an update as soon as one is available. All the good vibes and love to you our WORCS family!
Support your local industry shops, manufactures, and sponsors as much as you can! Pull out those Rocky Mountain ATV/MC Race Gas Cards. The town feels that due to current circumstances regarding; several large fires in the surrounding area that broke out over the weekend, the local and statewide curfews, and continual changes in local government decisions, that it would be best to postpone the races that were to be held at Flying E Ranch.
The city of Wickenburg and Flying E Ranch cannot wait to host WORCS events and have some amazing things planned for our racers when WORCS does roll into town.
We thank you for your support and understanding and we are so incredibly grateful for our last two weekends and getting to share them with you.
Our goal, as always, is to get you, your family and friends racing as soon as possible and we will, as we have over the last few months, continue to work hard to do so.
If you pre-registered for Wickenburg, you will be issued a refund shortly.
Stay Healthy-Stay Positive- and Keep the Good Vibes Going!

The following update was released on wednesday, april 22:
WEM the promoters of the MXstore MX Nationals have released a tentative schedule for the 2020 series, now expected to begin in August at Connondale in QLD on August 9th. In response to the recent COVID-19 outbreak, the series was postponed from it’s initial start date in April due to Government Restrictions on sporting events and interstate travel. Kevin Williams from WEM has commented on the release of the new calendar.
“It is important that everyone understands the new calendar is a projected series schedule with the current information that we have available to us. We are seeing positive information on the slow down of this outbreak and we can begin to anticipate what a return to some normality in life looks like. Following the ease of restrictions will be the projected return to sporting events and ultimately a time for us to go racing. We are putting our best foot forward to give everyone the most time to prepare, including the riders, teams and hosting clubs. The major hurdles that will disrupt the projected start of the series in August will be the Government not lifting the interstate travel ban and a continued restriction on the number of people allowed to attend outdoor events. We have continually stated that WEM is committed to delivering a full nine round series in 2020 and this is still our goal. As always we will keep everyone updated with the relevant information as soon as it becomes available.”
The new schedule will see a two week on and two off format, in an attempt to limit both travel time and expense for all relevant stakeholders of the series whilst delivering a nine round series in a two month window.
**Subject to change and Government restrictions**

Australian Supercross Championship
The following update was released on friday, september 4:
The 2020 Australian Supercross Championship has been canceled due to COVID-19.
Due to the global health pandemic and subsequent restrictions that COVID-19 entails, organizers of the Australian Supercross Championship announce today that a series in 2020 will not run, with focus now shifted to a bigger and better series for next year.
The ever-evolving landscape of the virus within Australia gave organizers, both Motorcycling Australia and Series AUS-SX Holdings, the possibility to structure a series if restrictions eased in Australia. However, with the latest stage four restrictions in Victoria, along with the overall instability of each State's reaction to the future of the virus, resulted in an agreement that a series this year would be too unpredictable, instead both parties focused on 2021.
AUS-SX Holdings Co-Founder and Director Adam Bailey expressed disappointment in the inability to run a series for 2020, however expects season 2021 to be one of the best championships that supercross in Australia has ever seen.
“It’s really disappointing for us and all involved with supercross in Australia to have to cancel this year’s series,” said Bailey.
“We wanted to hold out for as long as we could, to try and get some semblance of supercross competition up and running for this year and actually things were looking great for a fantastic 2020 series only a few weeks ago. With the ever-changing situation we’re up against with COVID however evolving so rapidly recently, we have no choice but to cancel this year’s series.
We just don’t have 100 percent certainty that we can safely and successfully deliver a caliber of a series that we expect of ourselves, and that fans and competitors deserve.
Supercross has been on a massive upward trend and we’re working tirelessly to ensure that this growth pattern continues. We are striving to create a sustainable, globally recognized platform for our Australian talent to showcase their skills, and are committed to delivering this in 2021 and beyond,” concluded Bailey.
Motorcycling Australia CEO, Peter Doyle, mirrored Bailey’s disappointment, however is confident the right decision was made and is equally committed to ’21.
"It's unfortunately a similar picture many sports face due the border closures, spectator restrictions and differing legislation in each state around COVID-19. The time, effort and large financial input required to run Supercross in this environment is a huge gamble and we thank and support AUS-SX Holdings for their efforts and decision to cancel. Everyone can now focus on 2021 when hopefully this pandemic is behind us," commented Doyle.
The 2019 Australian Supercross season proved to be the most successful to date, with over 75,000 fans in attendance across the five round series, along with live broadcasts available for both the Auckland and Melbourne rounds. For the first time ever, 35,000 race fans packed into Marvel Stadium for the season finale in the heart of downtown Melbourne, and witnessed Penrite Honda’s Chris Blose (SX2) and Justin Brayton (SX1) wrap up their respective championships in empathic fashion over a nail biting triple header format.
The Australian Supercross Championship has grown exponentially over the past five years, with fans, riders and brands alike from all over the world, interested in what the Southern Hemisphere has to offer. Series 2021 promises to be bigger and generate more interest than ever before following this year’s layoff.
The following update was released on Tuesday, september 8:
The 2020 AUS-X Open has been cancelled.
It is with heavy hearts that organizers of the Monster Energy AUS-X Open Melbourne confirmed officially today that the event will not run in 2020, with focus and resources instead shifting to develop a bigger and better international Supercross and action sports blockbuster for next year.
The Monster Energy AUS-X Open Supercross event has become a staple event for action sports fans globally, drawing international crowds and talent since its inception in 2015. In 2019, the largest Supercross event ever held in the Southern Hemisphere and outside the USA, took place inside Melbourne’s iconic Marvel Stadium; with 35,000 fans coming from all over Australia and overseas, to see some of the world’s best dirt bike athletes compete.
Unfortunately, the unpredictable nature and associated health risks with the COVID-19 virus, as well as subsequent domestic and international border restrictions, have made it impossible to safely conduct an event of the AUS-X Open’s magnitude in 2020.
The 2019 Monster Energy AUS-X Open Melbourne event has been recently announced as a national finalist in the Best Sporting Event of the Year recognized by Australian Event Awards, an award that AUS-X Open’s Co-Founder and Director Ryan Sanderson believes would be outstanding to win and is a very satisfying reminder for what was achieved by the event organizers last year.
“Having to cancel this year’s AUS-X Open following such an incredible first event in Melbourne last year and our largest AUS-X Open ever, is extremely disappointing for all involved. However these are very challenging times, for not only the whole events and sporting industry, but every single person has been impacted by COVID-19 in some way this year.
We are so proud of our whole team and we are so grateful to have held the largest and most prestigious international Supercross event ever in Australian history. We are more motivated than ever to ensure each AUS-X Open will continue to grow, evolve and be better each year and we will work tirelessly to improve the entertainment, experiences and event satisfaction for our amazing fans, as we push to grow the sport of Supercross and continue attracting fans from all over Australia and the world to the AUS-X Open Melbourne," said Sanderson.
The 2019 AUS-X Open Melbourne event was an engineering feat, arguably unmatched by any Supercross event in the world, with over 5,100 Railway Sleepers and 1,856 Steel Prop supports imported and constructed in the lower level carpark, to handle and hold the immense pressure of over 850 truckloads and up to 6,000 tons of dirt, machinery and infrastructure, all positioned in the center of Australia’s largest indoor stadium.
Over 14,000 fans travelled from outside Victoria and overseas to attend, injecting a reported $22 Million into the local economy. Coupled with a live and as-live Australian television audience on Network Ten and Fox Sports, as well as distribution to over 98 countries and over 380 Million Households around the world, the AUS-X Open has established itself as one of the most prestigious Supercross and action sports events in the world.
The racing on-track saw American Justin Brayton take his first AUS-X Open victory, whilst Jason Anderson wrapped up the FIM Oceania Championship. Young Victorian Jayo Archer landed his first ever double backflip in competition, taking home the FMX Best Trick Gold Medal in front of his hometown fans.
Following the immense momentum generated in 2019, organizers at AME Management immediately opened discussions with an all-new international rider line-up to compete at this year’s event, along with establishing plans for further enhanced entertainment elements to create the best version of the event to date. All of which will be put on ice for 2021.
“We’re devastated we won’t be able to show all of our fans what we had in store for them in 2020. Having a year under our belt inside Marvel Stadium, gave us so many key learnings, that we looked forward to taking into this year. We also were having some really positive discussions with riders that have never been seen before in Australia and that we know our fans want to see.
Whilst we’re as disappointed as anyone that COVID-19 has put a stop to this year, we’ll just use the extra time we have, to ensure 2021 is absolutely off the charts.”
With this in mind, 2021 is sure to be an unmissable experience for action sports fans both domestically and worldwide, however the AUS-X Open team have also moved to shift their focus in the meantime, towards generating grass-roots support for the motocross industry.
“The pandemic has definitely put strain on sports and facilities throughout Australia and grass roots motocross clubs are no different. They need help to improve the quality of the experience for riders and also, to attract new riders and families into motocross. We intend to focus time and energy that would be used up on our events this year, to help build the sport from a grass roots level. Watch this space!”
As mentioned, all event focus shifts to 2021, as organizers aim to make next year’s edition the most memorable one yet.
FIM International Six Days Of Enduro
The following update was released on Monday, March 30:
2020 FIM International Six Days Of Enduro Canceled
Following in-depth discussions between the FIM, FMI and the local organizing committee of the 2020 FIM International Six Days of Enduro (ISDE) and the FIM Enduro Vintage Trophy (EVT) in relation to the ongoing Coronavirus disease (COVID-19) pandemic and the associated restrictions, it has been decided to postpone the events until the same period in 2021.
Whilst the ISDE was not due to take place until late August early September of this year—between Lombardy and Piedmont, Italy—there are many influencing factors that made it necessary to take a decision sooner rather than later regarding the 95th edition of what remains the oldest event in the FIM international calendar.
The annual off-road event attracts several hundred competitors from more than thirty countries around the World each year, all of whom which have to commit to extensive travel and logistic plans several months in advance of the ISDE.
Moreover, the ISDE demands many months of forward planning and work to prepare many hundred of kilometers of course, all of which rely on the permission of the various local authorities and stakeholders.
With this in mind the FIM, FMI and the local organizing committee decided that in the best interest of all parties, and to ensure that the ISDE continues to hold it place as one of the most important events in the off-road calendar that all early decision to postpone the event was the right and proper action.
The 95th edition of the FIM International Six Days of Enduro will now take place from 30th August to 4th September 2021 with the 5th edition of the FIM Enduro Vintage Trophy from 2nd to 4th September, between Lombardy and Piedmont in Italy.
A keen supporter of the ISDE, FIM President Jorge Viegas explained: “The FIM along with its stakeholders have had to take many difficult decisions over recent weeks as we adapt to the ongoing COVID19 pandemic and the impact it is having on various countries around the World. Postponing the ISDE was not a decision that we have taken easily, as we know how important it is to riders from a large number of nations and to the various national federations too. However, thanks to the great co-operation of the FMI and the local organizing committee we feel we have taken the correct step to be fair to all concerned and to ensure we can celebrate a great 95th edition of the ISDE in Italy in 2021. At this present time the FIM and the wider motorcycling family continue to offer their support to ensure that everyone affected by COVID19 remains safe and well during this tough period.”
FMI President Giovanni Copioli expanded: “Due to the Covid-19 outbreak health emergency, we must take this difficult decision. Postponing the 2020 FIM ISDE to next year shows that we care about the riders’ health. We were always very pleased to have the opportunity to host 2020 FIM ISDE - the most prestigious Enduro event - in Italy, but at the moment this is the right decision. I am thankful to the FIM and its President, Mr. Jorge Viegas, for the support and to the organizing committee for the hard work. We are already looking to the 2021 FIM ISDE in Italy: the event will be even more exciting!”
The FIM Enduro Commission Director, John Collins added: “We all appreciate how difficult and disappointing this decision has been for the organizers and Italian Federation and they have our complete understanding. Our thoughts and prayers remain with Italy and all our other colleagues and enthusiasts at this time. We are confident when this terrible pandemic is over Italy will produce an unforgettable edition of the ISDE in 2021.”
Speaking on behalf of the local organizing committee Giorgio Bandoli, Valter Carbone and Edoardo Zucca issued a joint statement: “Due to the serious situation that occurred on Italian territory and in the world, some time ago we had already started discussions with FIM and FMI to monitor the coronavirus pandemic as it was evolving. After the recent news, the shared decision of this postponement is absolutely necessary and must be done also in respect to victims of this tragedy.”
“It will be next year that, with the strength and energy that support us since the first days of this extraordinary project, we want to organize the 95th edition of ISDE, hoping that it will be able to contribute positively to the complete return of the meeting between people all over the world and offer a renewed energy to the tourism sector. We thank the FIM and FMI for the strong support provided in this very difficult moment.”

2020 ENDUROCROSS SERIES
The following update was released on FRIDAY, JUNE 12:
TULSA, OK – The EnduroCross team is evaluating all options to organize a six race AMA championship series for 2020. The priority is the health and safety of the riders, fans and support staff involved with racing and putting on the events. The team is working with the various venues and assessing the federal, state and local guidelines, which varies by location, to determine the possibilities for hosting EnduroCross events. The goal is to have multiple locations with at least some fans in attendance but if that is not possible, options for multiple events at one or more locations are being considered. The series will run in the traditional time period of late-August to mid-November.
“The coronavirus pandemic has changed everything, and things seem to change every day,” said Tod Hammock, the president and founder of Cycle City Promotions. “We are doing everything we can to create the best series possible while addressing the necessary safety protocols. The ability to have fans or not weighs into the plans and we could use one or more venue without fans if necessary. Either way, we are aiming to have live pay-per-view online video coverage of all six events to make it possible for more fans to watch the racing live. We are aiming to announce the final schedule in the first week of July to give everybody time to prepare for the season.”
Rockstar Husqvarna’s Colton Haaker is returning to defend his championship and Cody Webb has joined the FactoryOne Sherco team to try to get another title of his own. Each of them has won three championships and is aiming for a fourth.
Canadian Trystan Hart has closed the gap on the two top EnduroCross racers and will be looking to take his first title on the RPM KTM. The Beta Factory team will also have a strong team consisting of Max Gerston and Chile’s Benjamin Herrera. Five-time champion Taddy Blazusiak is hoping to participate if he can make it work around other racing commitments in Europe. Add in exciting riders like Cory Graffunder, Noah Kepple, Ty Cullins (the defending EnduroCross Junior champion for riders 21 and under) and Cooper Abbott and this should prove to be a very exciting season to watch.
