Troy Lee Designs/Red Bull KTM announced today that Jordon Smith will miss this weekend's race in Daytona due to a wrist injury. Smith, a pre-season title favorite in the 250SX East Region, initially injured his wrist in a crash in the Arlington main event, the second round of the East Region. Although he finished in second overall in the Triple Crown in Detroit, Smith said in the post-race press conference that he barely finished a 10-minute moto in practice during the week leading up to Detroit.
Smith began the season with two podium finishes in the first three rounds but he finished 18th in the East/West Showdown in Atlanta last weekend and is now fourth in points, 29 back of Austin Forkner. There is currently no timetable on a return.
The team also announced that rookie Mitchell Falk, who has been out since the first East round in Minneapolis, will return next weekend in Indianapolis. Falk finished 17th in his supercross debut at round one but has not raced since.
