Sibiu, Romania – This Saturday, the TV broadcast of Red Bull Romaniacs, one of the world's toughest hard enduro motocross rallies, will air on NBC as part of the Red Bull Signature Series at 3:00 p.m. ET/12:00 p.m. PT. One of the most challenging competitions on two wheels, hard enduro combines elements of all disciplines, from motocross to trials riding and everything in between.
The Carpathian Mountains that surround the charming medieval city of Sibiu is the setting for Red Bull Romaniacs. Riders navigate up to sixty miles per day across the countryside of Romania, which, while initially appearing tranquil and picturesque, can be unforgiving and leave broken men and machines along the way. Athletes must perfect riding at blazing high speeds, forging rivers, wet tree-rooted trails, old Roman roads, and tackling sheer hill climbs. Now take those challenges and multiply them over four grueling days, and you have one of the world's toughest hard enduro rallies.
The top competitors include Germany's Andreas Lettenbichler, Spain's Alfredo Gomez, and four-time winner Graham Jarvis, as well as reigning champion Jonny Walker of the U.K. For four days these riders will use their bike mounted GPS and be challenged like no other competition in the world. Make a wrong turn out here and they could get swallowed up by the land, but for those that reach the finish line, they will revel in the glory of surviving Red Bull Romaniacs.
