Ben Townley has been named to the New Zealand 2015 Motocross of Nations team, reports MotoOnline.com.au. Townley still races part-time in New Zealand and Australia for Honda. Cody Cooper and Kayne Lamont have also been named to the team.
Townley last competed for New Zealand in 2010 at Thunder Valley, where he led the Kiwis to an eighth place finish with a moto win. Both Townley and Cooper were part of New Zealand’s third place finish at the 2006 Motocross of Nations at Matterley Basin.
Townley’s return to the des Nations marks a special anniversary, as the 30-year-old put in a spectacular performance at this year’s host site—Ernee, France—against Team USA's Ricky Carmichael ten years ago. Townley won a moto that year and finished a close second to Carmichael in another, leading New Zealand to a fourth place finish.
