Irvine, CA — Shades of Malcolm Smith and Steve McQueen racing through the streets of the Elsinore GP in On Any Sunday, the 2015 AMA District 37 Big 6 Grand Prix Series kicked off this past weekend with the Adelanto Grand Prix. One of the most popular off-road races in the country for years, the event marked a return to racing through the streets of this high-desert community about two hours northeast of Los Angeles. Centered around the AAA baseball stadium of the Adelanto Mavericks, this year’s event saw more than 1,500 entries and 10,000 spectators, and it included a new Endurocross section that challenged even the top pros… of course, the infamous water hole section was still part of the fun!
“We are beyond excited to be involved with the Big 6 series," says MSR Brand Manager Nick McBride. "This past weekend’s event was a great way for us to kick start our partnership. All of our riders performed well, both on and off the track, and we were glad to be there to assist them.”
MSR-sponsored athletes were able to come away with solid top five finishes as well. MSR’s veteran desert racer Colton Udall finished third overall in the grueling hour and forty-five minute West Coast GP race. Udall edged out 4th place finisher, MSR's Robby Bell, at the finish line. Rily Ellinger started off the Big 6 series with a great second place finish in the Women’s Expert Class, while MSR’s Matt Eddy came away with a strong fourth overall in the Vet Expert class.
Be sure to come out and support the MSR Big 6 series this year. Round two of the District 37 AMA Big 6 Grand Prix Series will be the Dirt Diggers MC Grand Prix at Honolulu Hills Raceway, Taft, CA.
