Jessy Nelson became the 97th different 250SX Class winner with his win. It was only Nelson's third career top five and his first podium. Nelson's victory gave KTM only their fourth first time winner in the 250SX Class. The other three include Ken Roczen, Marvin Musquin, and Grant Langston.
KTM reached a milestone in winning back-to-back season openers for the first time ever. Jason Anderson won the Anaheim opener last season. Nathan Ramsey also won the Western Regional 250SX Class season opener for KTM in 2005.
Since 1997, the winner of the opening race in the Western Regional 250SX Class went on to win the championship eight times, including Anderson last season.
For five consecutive seasons, KTM has won a Main Event in the 250SX Class. The win was KTM's 23rd 250SX Class victory of all-time.
