Blountville, TN Tennessee National (Muddy Creek)AMA Pro Motocross Championship

It was a battle of Man Strength vs. Boy Strength in the first 450 moto at the inaugural Built Ford Tough Tennessee National. As the masses gathered to witness the first Lucas Oil Pro Motocross gate drop at Muddy Creek, Ryan Villopoto—winner of four consecutive motos to begin the season—claimed the Motorcycle-Superstore.com holeshot.

Honda Muscle Milk 450 Class rookie hotshot Justin Barcia followed RV into turn one with Trey Canard and 450 Class veterans Mike Alessi, Justin Brayton, James Stewart and Ryan Dungey jousting for early positioning.

In the early goings it was Villopoto and Barcia mano e mano for the moto win. Barcia held the pace of RV early, until the points leaders pulled nearly a two second gap on the youngster on lap six, leaving little doubt about a fifth consecutive moto win.

Defending champion Ryan Dungey was buried off the start, but managed to dig himself out of the hole and track down Alessi and then Stewart to finish third. Stewart held a hard charging Clement Desalle at bay for fourth. Josh Grant, who set the fastest lap in practice, overcame a bad start to finish seventh.  Phil Nicoletti, Ryan Sipes and Justin Brayton finished out the top ten.

Trey Canard held down fourth early in the race before carting huge before the finish line. Although he stayed down on the ground for a few moments, he did get back up and finished the race 29th.
