SANTA MONICA, CA – Red Bull Media House in association with Freeride Entertainment (“WHERE THE TRAIL ENDS”, “NEW WORLD DISORDER” film series) announced today start of production on a new motorsport documentary called “ON ANY SUNDAY, THE NEXT CHAPTER.” The new film from Director Dana Brown will begin shooting this month. Dana Brown (“STEP INTO LIQUID”, “DUST TO GLORY”) is the son of Director Bruce Brown (“THE ENDLESS SUMMER”) who directed the original Academy Award-nominated documentary “ON ANY SUNDAY” and serves as Executive Producer for this film.
“ON ANY SUNDAY, THE NEXT CHAPTER” is an exploration into the 2 wheeled world of motorcycle riding. The film will journey deeper into the humanity, thrills and excitement behind the global culture of motorcycle riding; those that are bonded by their passion for the race, the exhilaration of the ride, the love of family and friendship and on a deeper level – their quest for the thrill of the next ride. Apart from the historical footage, “ON ANY SUNDAY, THE NEXT CHAPTER” will be entirely shot and mastered in 4K.
“In I971, ‘ON ANY SUNDAY’ made me want to become a film maker. Not because my Dad had made the film, but because it was the coolest thing I had ever seen. I had never imagined making another ‘ON ANY SUNDAY,’” commented Dir. Dana Brown. “It all started with a ‘what if’ and some excitement at the possibilities. The chance to tell a completely unique story that still has all the hallmarks of the original. The heart, soul and passion have not changed. But the level of performance and the technology to convey that certainly has.”
“I want this film to get made because it's great for motorcycle sport,” commented Exec. Prod. Bruce Brown. “The time is right and I am so proud to have Dana tell the story and work with Red Bull Media House and Freeride Entertainment to pass the torch to the next generation of motorcycle enthusiasts and film goers alike. A lot has happened in the past 40 years, but the passion for riding is timeless and continues today.”
SOME OF THE FEATURED TALENT INCLUDES:
Travis Pastrana (USA), Marc Marquez (Spain), Robbie Maddison (Australia), James “Bubba” Stewart (USA) and more. Other riders featured in “ON ANY SUNDAY, THE NEXT CHAPTER” to be announced in the coming months.
“ON ANY SUNDAY “was released in 1971 and was nominated for an Academy Award for Best Documentary Feature in 1972.
“ON ANY SUNDAY, THE NEXT CHAPTER” is set to start shooting at the Circuit of the Americas track in Austin, Texas this week during the Red Bull Grand Prix of the Americas, the first MotoGP race to be held in the US this season and the first time the pinnacle of motorcycle racing will make turns on the new Texas track. The documentary will take a global look at the sport as production plans to shoot in Austria, the Czech Republic, Vietnam, Argentina, South Africa, Canada and Spain, among many others in the coming months.
