Tomac Returns to Monster Energy Cup
At last year’s Monster Energy Cup this Supercross Lites Class rider chose to ride a 450cc motorcycle against the world’s top Supercross Class riders and finished fifth overall, posting 5-4-10 results.
"Anytime you're on a track with a veteran like Kevin Windham or top guy like Ryan Villopoto, you're going to learn something new," said Tomac. "You get to see how they ride a corner or go through a rhythm section and hopefully you learn something from that. It should be a lot of fun and racing against guys like them will make it all that much more exciting.
“The Monster Cup is definitely a cool event,” said Tomac. “I was there last year for the first one … I ended up getting fifth there. I am a Lites guy, so if I go out there and race 450cc guys, and beat them, it it’s always a big help.”
Tomac recently capped off a dominant Western Regional Supercross Lites Class season, where he scored five wins and an additional two podium finishes en route to the first professional title of his career.
The 18-year old made his Western Regional Supercross Lites class debut in 2011 and closed out the season second-overall, just six points shy of the championship. In 2011, Tomac won two races and earned four podium finishes.

The 2012 Monster Energy Cup features an all-new track design inspired by five-time Supercross Class Champion Ricky Carmichael. The Carmichael-inspired track design will consist of supercross and motocross obstacles unlike any other racetrack design in the world. More than 200’ of the track will be built into the grandstands, and the riders exit the stadium and race through the Monster Energy Fan Zone outside of the stadium and through the pit area before they catapult back into the stadium. The Monster Energy Cup posts a $250,000 purse with the winner walking away with a $100,000 check, and any rider that wins all three Main Events will take home $1 million. For more information on the Monster Energy Cup, log on to www.SupercrossOnline.com.
