Mt. Morris, PA High PointAMA Pro Motocross Championship

Welcome to the fourth round of the Lucas Oil Pro Motocross Championship, coming to you from the gorgeous, rolling hills of High Point Raceway. It’s a beautiful day here at the FMF High Point National, and with the weather report calling for clear skies all day, it’s shaping up to be an absolutely fantastic day of racing.

As to be expected, Ken Roczen, Blake Baggett, Eli Tomac and Justin Barcia all look very fast, and it’s reflected in their practice times. Roczen was fastest in the first practice with a 2:10.860, and was one of only a few 250 riders launching into a set of rollers off of a sharp jump that most riders are opting to single. When the second sessions rolled around, times actually got faster, indicating that the track must be developing nicely. Marvin Musquin used the improved conditions to his advantage, shaving nearly four seconds off of his fastest lap from session 1, and qualified faster than anyone, including the 450s, with a 2:08.740. Baggett had a small crash in the second qualifier, which created an electrical problem that caused him to miss almost the entire session.

In the 450 ranks, Mike Alessi topped the field in session one with a 2:10.949, while Nico Izzi continued the impressive streak of speed he’s had of late by laying down a 2:11.383. James Stewart was considerably off the pace in the first session, and when the second session got under way, he again looked to be in survival mode, hovering outside the top five and cruising around the track. Then, just as we’ve seen so many times before, Stewart lit the fires on the very last lap and topped the board.

In WMX action, Tarah Gieger was fastest, and with Ashley Fiolek out with a concussion, Gieger is looking at a great opportunity to break the stranglehold that Jessica Patterson and Fiolek have on WMX wins. For a complete look of qualifying times, go here. http://results.mxsportsproracing.com
