Ferris Dislocates Shoulder at French GP

  • Ferris Dislocates Shoulder at French GP

An unfortunate first turn crash in the second moto of the French MX1 GP held in St Jean d’Angely has sidelined ICE1RACING’S Dean Ferris with a dislocated shoulder.

Ferris was coming into his own in his Rookie MX1 season while holding a podium spot for over 30 mins in the Brazilian GP mudfest two weeks prior.  He posted a strong 11th spot in Saturday qualification on the spectacular St Jean hillside circuit and was confident coming into Sunday’s race.

As the gate dropped for the first MX1 moto, Ferris was fighting for positions going into the first split section.  He ran into the back of another rider on the first lap and went down burning his stomach on the header pipe in the process.  Remounting, Ferris fought through the pain to gain a few championship points by the end of the moto for 19th spot.

Race 2 was short lived for the Australian.  He grabbed a superb start but was hit from behind going into the first turn, which dislocated his right shoulder.  Medical staff at the track were able to manipulate the shoulder back into position twenty minutes later.

“I was really looking forward to this race,” admitted Ferris. “I watched here as a spectator two years ago and now I was finally able to mix it up with the guys.  We were lucky to get the shoulder back into place quite quickly with the great assistance of the doctors and medics.  I will have another check up back in Belgium this week with my specialists and then we can make a decision on when I can get back on the bike.  It’s really frustrating because my speed has been improving with every race and I have been battling with guys that have won GP’s.  Hopefully this is only a minor setback and I can be back behind the gate in no time!”
