  • Thor Amateur Riders End Two Weeks of Racing Action on a High Note

Thor PR

Thor amateur riders tackled the elements over the past two weeks with action-packed racing at the GNC Finals at Oak Hill in Decatur, Texas and the AMA Thor Spring Classic at MillCreek MX Park in Pell City, Ala.. Thor riders left the southern states with a total of seven championships and 23 additional podium finishes.

The young racers convened for the first time in 2012 at Oak Hill Raceway, tackling a tough track to earn one championship and an impressive 13 podium finishes. Standout Jordon Smith raced for a comeback win in the 250 Intermediate Stock class, earning the championship with a 2-1 moto finish. In addition to Smith’s moto win, Justin Hill also grabbed a moto win in the 450 A Modified class, before finishing runner-up in the class. Also showing speed was Thor’s Paul Coates, who finished on the podium in each class he entered.

Once racing was complete in Texas, the riders made the move to MillCreek MX Park in Pell City, Ala., with weather threatening racing activity. On Wednesday, weather was briefly delayed while rain passed through the area, making the track slick and challenging. Thor riders were up to the challenge and were able to put in solid moto finishes to eventually bring home six championships and 10 podium finishes. Jordan Bailey captured two championships in the 85 (9-11) Stock and Modified classes. Hill was untouchable in the Four Stroke Open, going a perfect 1-1-1 on his way to the championship. He also grabbed a championship in the 450 A class, while Jordon Smith earned his second championship in two weeks in the Schoolboy 1 (12-16) B/C class. Rounding out the championships for Thor was Max Tannenbaum, who earned a perfect 1-1-1 in the Open Amateur 2-Stroke (14+) class.
