In what has to be the craziest night of Monster Energy Supercross in years--decades--the entire series was shaken upside down.
It started with Ryan Villopoto, the series' leader, crashing hard on the first rhythm section in his heat race. He then went to the LCQ, crashed off the start, then crashed again coming back onto the track. He didn't make the main.
Then James Stewart crashed in that same rhythm lane on the first lap of the main. He was out, presumably injured but no reports are available yet.
Trey Canard took the lead. Chad Reed and Ryan Duney were second and third. Reed closed on Canard, made a pass, Canard got him back and held it to the end for his second win of the year.
Reed moves to seven points behind Villopoto in the series standings. Dungey is now third, and Stewart--we're not sure if he'll be back next weekend or not. We'll try to get word.
In Lites, Justin Barcia won wire-to-wire to stretch his lead. Dean WIlson rode solid for second with Ryan Sipes third. Blake Baggett crashed on the LCQ start and didn't make the main.
We'll have more later tonight. Crazy night at the races!
