MotoConcepts Race Report: Houston
Kyle Chisholm has been stepping it up in the last couple of weeks. His speed has improved tremendously and gave him 6th fastest time in Anaheim and 5th fastest in Houston.
After a bad start in the heat race, Kyle was going thru the pack aggressively and made in way up to the transfer positions. Just after passing Vince Friese, Kyle crashed pretty hard in a rhythm section, if you saw the race on TV, exactly at the same spot as Windham. Kyle is still at the hospital. He has a bruised lung and they sadated him for 2 days with a breathing tube in his throat and a 2 draining tubes in his lung. Kyle didn't break any bones, wasn't in a coma like the rumors said and didn't get a concussion. He doing much better and they moved him on a chair bed. He can almost breathe all by himself now and they will take one of his breathing tube out today. All the team wishes him a speedy recovery and hopes to hang out with him soon...
It was the return to racing for Tommy in Houston after his separated shoulder at Dodger Stadium. Tommy qualified 14th. He said he had trouble getting comfortable on the Texas. It was good for a first race back. The goal was to go thru a race and do 20 laps to get back into racing. His shoulder isn't 100% yet and was still hurting after the race. THahn got 11th in the main and like I said above, it was a good way to start racing again. We didn't except him to be in the top 5 but more like taking it easy for a first race back. 11th is actually is best finish of the season so far.
Vince qualified in 23rd this weekend. Vince started in the top 5 of his heat race. Then, after getting passed by Kyle for the last transfer spot, Vince couldn't miss Chiz when he crashed and went on the ground too bringing a couple of guys along with him. Vince re-injured his pinky from Anaheim but went on and raced the LCQ. He had a bad pick on the gate but rocketed out of it and holeshoted. He did 6 consistent laps in front of Jason Thomas and won the race. His main event was not very good and finished 17th. His best lap in the main was 1.3sec slower than his best time in the LCQ. Something that he will have to work on.
