Troy Lee Designs/Lucas Oil/Honda Fast in Phoenix
January 17, 2011, 3:15pm
After getting off to a solid start at the opening round in Anaheim, the TLD boys continued to make improvements in Arizona last weekend. Christian Craig set great times in qualifying and looked comfortable and fast heading into the night program. Travis Baker is still recovering from a broken hand just prior to the season but he still qualified well. Cole Seely was fast in qualifying and looking to improve upon his fifth from the previous weekend.
All three riders were once again stacked into the second heat race to qualify. The start was critical, as always, and Seely and Craig Both got them. Cole would make the main with a fourth while Craig would follow him through in fifth. Baker fought his way to ninth to get the final transfer position.
In the main event all the riders struggled with their starts. They had their work cut out for them and they went to work for the next fifteen laps. Cole put on an impressive charge toward the front and would make it all the way to fourth at the checkers from a 15th place start. It was an improvement from the previous weekend, though not the podium finish he wanted. Travis Baker worked into eighth again while Christian would suffer another crash on the opening laps and fail to finish the race.
This weekend the team heads to Los Angeles for the first supercross ever held inside Dodgers Stadium. It will be a monumental event, and if the Troy Lee Designs team has anything to say about it, it will be a big weekend for the team riders as well. Come out and cheer on all the TLD riders this weekend and check the new one-off helmets that they will be wearing in support of Silly Brandz Global, one of the team's new sponsors.
TLD would like to thank all of our team sponsors: Lucas Oil, American Honda, PPG, Red Bull, SillyBrandz Global, Adidas, BioLytical Labs, Dunlop, McQueen Racing, VQ OrthoCare, Shock Doctor, Skullcandy, Renthal, Alpinestars, Pro Circuit, Primm MX Collection, Couts Heating & Cooling, Selle Italia, N-Style, VP Racing Fuels, ODI, DID, Rossignol, Pacific Collision Centers, Muc-Off, Kasey Kahne, Elrod Racing, New Era, Leatt, Cycra, Hammerhead, Hinson, Twin Air, Talon, QTM, and EPIC Action Camera.
