Anaheim 2 Goes Pink

  • Anaheim 2 Goes Pink

AURORA, Ill. – Feld Motor Sports announced today Monster Energy® AMA Supercross, an FIM World Championship, will host the second-annual breast cancer awareness race at Anaheim’s Angel Stadium Saturday, February 5. Contributions will go to the Susan G. Komen 3-Day for the Cure 60-mile walk.

In an effort to raise awareness, Monster Energy® Supercross will take on the "pink" theme that is synonymous with Breast Cancer Awareness at Anaheim’s Angel Stadium. Last year, the race was well received by not only the entire industry, but the fans as well.

"Last year’s inaugural pink race to support breast cancer awareness was a huge success, and we want to build off of that success in 2011" said Dave Prater, director of supercross, Feld Motor Sports. "We hope to generate unparalleled support from the fans and industry to make a stand against breast cancer."

Breast cancer affects one in eight women in the U.S. and breast cancer knows no boundaries—be it age, gender, socio-economic status or, more broadly, the state of the economy. Monster Energy® Supercross fans recognize the need for continued support of charitable causes as both a broad effort and for personal reasons alike.

Working with Feld Motor Sports, Shasta Johnson, who is a survivor and Susan G. Komen 3-Day for the Cure Team Captain, will join thousands of other dedicated men and women for the San Diego Breast Cancer 3-Day to raise awareness and funds for the fight against breast cancer. The three-day, 60-mile walk benefiting Susan G. Komen for the Cure® requires months of physical and financial preparation, challenge and triumph.

"Last year’s race surpassed all my expectations. I can’t wait to see what the teams, riders and fans do this year," said Johnson. "To have the opportunity to continue the fight against breast cancer with Monster Energy® Supercross, Feld Motor Sports and the greatest fans in the world is an amazing honor."

Fans are encouraged to post their images from last year’s pink event on Monster Energy Supercross’ Facebook fan page at www.facebook.com/supercrosslive.
