Dragon Racing Fuels Race Report - Southwick

  • Dragon Racing Fuels Race Report - Southwick

Southwick, MA – Heading into the sandbox we call Southwick, Team Dragon Racing Fuels/1-866-KTM-PART had high expectations for the 10th round of the 2010 Lucas Oil Pro Motocross Championship series. As it turned out, there was a mixed bag of results for the young team.

With the exit of Taylor Futrell, AG Motorsports added the up and coming #185 Killy Rusk to the stable of young talent. "It is good to be part of the Dragon Racing Fuels/1-866-KTM-PART team for the rest of the 2010 nationals", said Rusk. "Their support and great race bikes will improve my current program and hopefully it will show in my results"… Rusk added.

With the deteriorated track conditions that Southwick is famous for, #185 Killy Rusk was the only team member to make the top 40 as he qualified 15th for the motos. Rookies #244 Ryan Zimmer and #690 Ricky Winters got a taste of the sand and failed to qualify. Ryan Zimmer said, "I am disappointed for the team and myself… I am a better rider than what I have shown here today. The team works hard to make sure I have the right equipment to get the job done and this is how I respond… I am very disappointed in myself".

In moto one, #185 Killy Rusk came out of the first turn in 15th and battled between 14th and 16th before a miscue in one of the corners sent him to the ground. He regained his momentum but the crash broke his shift lever and he could not complete the moto.

With a new shift lever and something to prove for his new team, moto two was a time for redemption. Killy got a great start and going into the first turn he was fourth. However, Ian Trettel made a run and pushed him into another rider causing Killy to go down once again. Killy remounted and set his sights forward. Now in the last position on the track, Killy had his work cut out for him. He grabbed a handful of throttle and picked off one rider at a time to finished 21st. Killy Rusk finished with a (31) (21) giving him a 27th overall.

As the 2010 season comes to an end, Team Dragon Racing Fuels/1-866-KTM-PART is selling their 2010 KTM 250 SXF race and practice bikes to make room for the 2011’s. For more information, please contact Team Manager, Al Albiker at al.albiker@agmmx.com.
