Wanted: Vintage Riders Of The Northwest
Have a vintage bike and planning to be at Washougal? We received this note from our friends at Washougal Motocross:
On Saturday July 24th Washougal Motocross Park will host its 30th Annual National Motocross, Round #8 of the Lucas Oil AMA Pro Motocross Championship. On that day we will be celebrating the many years of Motocross Heritage that got us all to where we are today...
Please contact Brian Barnes of Washougal MX 360-904-7784 AFTER 5PM on weekdays for the chance to participate in a rare FMF Sponsored EXHIBITION RIDE in front of 20,000 Race fans who will be at this years RETRO National event.
A three lap practice will happen on Saturday Morning, then between 3pm and 4pm right before the Nationally televised second 450 moto, we will have 40-60 Vintage Bikes on the line for a 4 lap Exhibition Moto.
Washougal opened in 1971 and our first National was in 1980 so the bikes we are looking for are 1971 through 1980 era machines... Bikes need to be in great shape and will be displayed on the infield before the event. Any brand or make is O.K. as we would really like the fans to see what were the beginnings of the modern day MXer. And if you have Retro gear it would be great also. You must have a CURRENT AMA card or purchase one at the track before you participate and sign a waiver of release. All riders would need to be at the track by 4pm on Friday evening so that sign-up would be finished that evening, National Day is very hectic...PLEASE PASS THIS ON IF YOU KNOW OF SOMEONE WHO MIGHT BE A GREAT CANDIDATE....
Also I am trying to find a 1978 Yamaha for Rick Burgett to Ride and a 1980 Honda for Chuck Sun to Ride...PLEASE HELP SHOW THOSE WHO NEVER EXPERIENCED THE JOYS WE ALL GREW UP WITH THE HERITAGE OF MOTOCROSS...
Also included on Saturday will be a Motosport.com Best Dressed Retro Outfit contest and a Motosport.com Retro Giveaway to one Lucky race fan that everyone will be talking about.
