Thor/Parts Unlimited: The Home Stretch
April 15, 2010 2:36pm
There have been quite a few stories to come out of the 2010 Monster Energy AMA Supercross series. However, one particular story that has been gaining momentum throughout the year is the success Thor MX riders have experienced and hopefully will continue to experience as the season comes around the final turn and heads for the finish.
Last week, Monster Energy/Pro Circuit/Kawasaki and Thor rider Christophe Pourcel regained the East Coast Lites class number one plate with his impressive win in Houston. Pourcel’s win locks up the title with a week still remaining on the East Coast schedule. In addition to his win last week, Pourcel can also add an upcoming Racer X Illustrated cover to his credentials. Check out the June 2010 cover:
While Pourcel’s championship is complete, he may soon have a West Coast teammate sharing the spotlight. With a couple rounds remaining in the West Coast Lites class, fellow Monster Energy/Pro Circuit/Kawasaki and Thor rider Jake Weimer will be back on the racetrack and looking to lock up the 2010 West Coast Lites title. Weimer holds a 14-point lead over Trey Canard, who is coming off of a nice run in the Supercross class, and the two will no doubt provide a great battle to finish off the season.
Finally, just when you thought it might be over, Monster Energy Kawasaki and Thor rider Ryan Villopoto continues to gain ground on Ryan Dungey in the Supercross class. Villopoto sits just 12-points behind and looks to build on his current momentum in the final four rounds of the season to bring home the championship.
The winning ways don’t stop on the professional side of the sport either. As most know, a commitment Thor has always made is its involvement with the amateur side of motocross. After having some time to hang out with members of the 2010 amateur team, we wanted to introduce you to the top amateur riders of today and the top professional riders of the near future. There is much more coming from Thor in the coming weeks. You can stay current through our official Facebook page, and check out new videos as they become available on YouTube. Enjoy your weekend!
