New Motocross Facility Opens in Florida

  • New Motocross Facility Opens in Florida
MANATEE, FL - Forest Glen Motoplex officially opened its new motocross facility Sunday, December 20, 2009. Located 26 miles east of I-75 in Manatee County off State Road 64 East adjacent to the Hardee County Line, the track was developed to satisfy the growing demand for riding space in the southwest Florida region. Peter Shirk and Skip Gilmartin of Forest Glen MX, Inc. in Palmetto, FL, conceived the idea of developing the new facility in the summer of 2009. Renowned track designer, Jason Baker of Dream Traxx, was brought in to supervise track design and construction. With over 500 acres on location, Dream Traxx developed a central area into a thirty-acre motocross arena. Sparing no creative detail, the track features a nearly two-minute master loop, multiple tabletops, off-camber turns, whoops and jumps, in a track layout that is extremely challenging and at the same time accessible to riders of varying ages and skill levels. In addition to the main track, a pee-wee track for riders age 4-12 is under construction and will be available soon. Practice sessions will take place on Wednesdays from 12:00PM to sundown and Saturdays and Sundays from 9:00AM to sundown. Practice sessions will cost riders $20 each per bike class, and their non-riding guests over the age of five will be charged $5 each. All riders under the age of 18 will be required to provide a Parental Consent and Release form in advance The form is available for download at www.ForestGlenMX.com.

The first race at Forest Glen will be held over the weekend of January 16th and 17th, and will be sponsored by Florida Trail Riders, a private motocross club based in DeBary, Florida. In addition Forest Glen Motoplex has been awarded an Area Qualifying Race in the Loretta Lynn Series for the weekend of March 12th-14th. The Loretta Lynn Series is the largest amateur motocross championship series in the world. Hosting a Loretta Lynn Qualifier is a significant accomplishment for the new facility.

Forest Glen Motoplex intends to become a premier destination in the sport of motocross racing and will spend the next twelve months perfecting the course, developing a strong Southwest Florida following and beginning the process of developing a national presence.

Should members of the media plan to attend, please contact us at the number listed below for press credential arrangements. For more information, including sponsorship opportunities, please contact Peter Shirk or Rich Ralston at 941-718-1372. www.forestglenmx.com.
