  • Bonds Race Report - WORCS Round 1

Surprise, AZ - WORCS Racing’s defending champion opened up his season in Phoenix, Az yesterday, by finishing a solid second and riding a very smart and steady 2-hr race in the WORCS 2009 opener.  Bonds had a good start, which is surprising because “Bondo” will be the first to admit, that has always been his weakness.

“I actually had a good start, I think there were 40 of us that pulled to the gate yesterday, so for me coming around the first turn in 8th, I can’t complain”

Bobby climbed through the pack and by halfway mark, found himself sitting in second as he began to make up time and try and find Dietrich ahead in the Arizona desert.  Bonds would soon learn that this day belonged to RD (Dietrich) and he would settle for a hard earned second place on the day.

“He ran really well today, Dietrich had it together and he earned this one.  I’m so happy to be with the Valli team this year.  I’ve got great support, a great bike and wonderful sponsors. We’re gonna go back this week and make a couple of changes to my Honda and come round two, I will be ready. I’m really looking forward to this season, and I’m happy to leave here today with 25 points for sure.”  Bobby Bonds

Bond’s Career Highlights:
2008 WORCS National Champion
2001 AMA MX/SX “Rookie of the Year”
1994 & 1999 Loretta Lynn National Champion
