Fun Center Suzuki's Supercross Opener

  • Fun Center Suzuki's Supercross Opener
The much-anticipated A1 had finally arrived and everyone on the team had been literally working around the clock to make sure everything was 100-percent ready to go. Cole Seely posted the fastest qualifying time on the team at 26th, not bad for his first outing. Michael Lapaglia was second fastest, coming in at 30th. Brady Sheren, coming off a wrist injury, missed qualifying for the night program by three tenths of a second.

Lapaglia and Seely lined up together for the first Lites Heat race of the season. Lapaglia got a late jump off of the gate and another rider cut in front of him causing a Tuff Block to be knocked onto the track. Lapaglia had no where to go which left him in last place. By the end of the race, he had moved into 13th and a trip to the LCQ. Seely, on his RM-Z250, got a fifth-place start.

“When I came into the second corner, I drifted a little high and someone came in under me causing us both to go down,” explained Seely. “It was a rookie mistake and it won’t happen again.”

Seely remounted and finished 12th.

In the LCQ, Seely finished third, collecting the Racer X Gas Card, and Lapaglia 4th. With the change in the format this year from a 22-rider main to a 20-rider main, this left them both out of the race.

“You almost have to make it out of the heat race this year,” said Lapaglia. “I am very disappointed and this is going to motivate me to work even harder this week.”

Team Fun Center Suzuki would like to thank their sponsors, friends and family for all of their dedication. The next race is this weekend at Chase Field in Phoenix, AZ.
