  • Inaugural U.S. Open of Arenacross

Fort Worth, TX. (August 14, 2006)
– Mike Kidd Entertainment Group (MKEG) – one of the leading motorcycle race producers in the country - is proud to announce The BooKoo Energy Drink U.S. Open of Arenacross, to be held at the Mohegan Sun Arena; a worldwide premier destination located in Uncasville, CT, on February 9-11, 2007.

This inaugural event will carry a $100,000.00 purse, with $50,000 going to the US Open of Arenacross Champion. Sunday will be dedicated to youth and amateur riders who have qualified from previous BooKoo Arenacross Championship Series events to compete for their shot at becoming the US Open of Arenacross Champion in their respective class.

“The BooKoo US Open of Arenacross is something we are extremely excited to announce,” said Mike Kidd, president of MKEG. “Our dedication to the growth and development of Arenacross continues and we could not have picked a better partner to create such an exciting event as the Mohegan Sun.”

"Mohegan Sun is proud to be the host for such a prestigious event as the US Open of Arenacross," said Bob Yalen, Director of Sports & Entertainment. "We look forward to an exciting event for both the riders and the fans."

Professional racing will consist of two classes: 250cc and 450cc racing both Friday and Saturday nights. This premier event will also be the final round of the BooKoo Arenacross Championship Series. Points will be awarded in all four main events to determine the US Open of Arenacross Champion.

Also at the Mohegan Sun, on Monday evening, will be the BooKoo Arenacross Championship Series Awards Ceremonies, where the separate $100,000.00 point fund will be distributed to the top 15 riders of the series.

“The addition of the US Open of Arenacross to our final round of the BooKoo Arenacross Series creates a whole new level of anticipation,” said Shane Schaefer, event manager of MKEG.  “With the best Arenacross racers competing at one of the largest and most elaborate entertainment destinations in the world and for a record Arenacross purse, will certainly create a spectacular event for our fans, sponsors, and racers.”
