Monster Energy’s Ricky Carmichael Rolls Into Southwick With O/A Win
AMA Motocross class points leader looks to defend title @ the ‘Wick
CARLSBAD, Calif., (June 8, 2006) – Not since 1998 in the 125 class has Ricky Carmichael lost an overall race in the sand of Southwick – the unique track located at American Legion Post 338 in rural Massachusetts.
“I pretty much grew up racing in sand down here in Florida and have
used that to my advantage at Southwick over the years,” said
Carmichael. “Last year I lost a moto there to Chad (Reed) and I know
Bubba runs well there if he decides to race, so it should be another
good event on the Nationals tour for the motocross fans out east.”
Carmichael actually won Southwick during his first full season as a
rookie in 1997. Since then he’s undefeated in 250 class action at
Southwick, running up an impressive 6-0 record since 2000.
In the overall AMA Motocross class points chase, Carmichael holds a nine-point lead over Reed (95-86).
And the last guy to beat Carmichael at Southwick? That’d be his
buddy, John Dowd, who Carmichael sponsored at the race last year!
