Troubling news out of Florida
After hearing rumors for a couple of days now, Racer X has
confirmed that Gary Bailey, 62, of Axton, Virginia, was arrested this
week in Florida on charges concerning improper behavior with a minor,
according to the public records of February 12, 2006, of Daytona Beach,
Florida (Daytona Beach News-Journal Online -- Records).
Racer X spoke to Gary Bailey this morning over the telephone,
and Bailey was adamant that he will be cleared of the charges. "It was
false allegations by a lady.
"What it looks like it is - what it says it is - it's not. It's not
that," he said, adding that things would be resolved in due time. He
had been advised by his lawyer not to make further statements over what
he referred to as "a nightmare."
In a related development, Racer X has learned that Bailey will
not be building the Daytona Supercross track this year, something he's
done since the inception of the race in 1971. According to sources
within the industry, it appears likely that either Dirt Wurx or Mark
Barnett will take over track-building duties for this year's event,
which is scheduled for March 10.
