Morning Report
Good morning and what a great one it will be celebrating our nations 250th birthday, on the fourth of July, at RedBud. Not even a little (or a lot) of weather can slow down this year’s celebration. Heavy rains came down Friday afternoon, creating rivers everywhere. But the crews have been working tirelessly to get the track as best as possible but remember it's RedBud so even on a bad day, it is still pretty great. A few showers throughout the day are possible, but nothing like yesterday’s downpour.
After a weekend off, racing resumes this weekend, and fans are eager to get back to the racing action. In the 450 class Jett Lawrence leads Hunter Lawrence by only two points. Hunter was able to win High Point somewhat easily; will he continue that trend this weekend or will Jett retaliate? Historically, Haiden Deegan never had the best of luck at RedBud in the 250 class, but he has been inching closer to the top two every race, will he turn his luck around? And then nine-time World Champion Antonio Cairoli is coming back out of retirement (for the second or third time now?) for the next three rounds. The guy is 40 years old and can’t seem to hang up his boots quite yet. Then of course we cannot talk rain without mentioning Aaron Plessinger’s name. AP loves RedBud and it's quite possible he did a rain dance that started all of this inclement weather. He has been looking better every weekend, is this the race he lands on the podium for the first time in 2026?
In the 250 class the points are still really close, Levi Kitchen leads by only one point over Jo Shimoda. Shimoda has one point over Julien Beaumer, who has five points over Cole Davies. Only seven points between the top four and no repeat winners in four races. No rider has yet to find consistency in this series, and if the track is muddy, it is doubtful today will be the day someone does.
The first round of qualifiers is set to begin shortly, so check back soon for a look at who’s leading the pack here at RedBud.
Until then check out First Look:
First Qualifiers
All morning we were waiting on the word that first qualifiers were canceled, but the track crew did an amazing job of pushing most of the mud off of the track. Cole Davies carried his confidence over from Hight Point, getting the fastest time in the first session. He was even penalized for failing sound, losing his fastest lap but fortunately his second time was still faster than everyone else.
In the 450 class it was Jett Lawrence who was a full second faster than Hunter Lawrence, with RJ Hampshire coming through in third. Haiden Deegan was third fastest but lost his fast lap for jumping the leap on the site lap.

Second Qualifiers
Second qualifying session and once again Cole Davies shot to the top of the board. No one could challenge his time, on the rough and rutted track. Davies’ teammate Caden Dudney was second fastest and Kitchen in third.
450 class Jett Lawrence set the fastest lap in the first session, and that time would hold, however Haiden Deegan was fastest in the second session. Every rider had their fair share of troubles out on the rough track, Jett went down and Jorge Prado hit his bike going for a wild ride. The ruts are super deep with lines going everywhere. It will be interesting to see who can stay the smoothest and most consistent in the motos.

LCQ's
In the 250 LCQ it was Christopher Schroeder with the holeshot but Reece Wheaton made it to the lead on the second lap. At the end Trevor Hazlett and Nico Isreal rounded out the top four and made it through to the motos.
In the 450 LCQ Ronnie Orres pulled the holeshot but Michigan’s own Joey Crown quickly found his way to the lead as he has made many laps around this track over the years. Tyler Stepek found his way into second, Vinny Luhovey in third and Orres held on for the final transport position.

SMX Next Moto 2
Moto one was held on Friday, but moto two got rained out and was moved to today. Landon Gibson pulled the holeshot but it was moto 1 winner Carson Wood who moved to the lead right away. Though Gibson started coming on strong about halfway through and applied pressure all the way to the end, it looked at one point he was even going to go for the pass but couldn’t make anything stick. Meanwhile Kade Johnson had made his way to third place but on the last lap Kayd Kingsford was able to make the pass going up LaRocco’s Leap, pushing Johnson off the track and claiming third. Though Johnson was able to make the overall podium in third.

250 Moto 1
It was Caden Dudney with the holeshot with his teammate Cole Davies hot on his heels. Julien Beaumer was in fourth but then went down got stuck in the mud falling way back. Out front Dudney leads his first ever Pro Motocross lap, and then many more. He held the lead for about 12 minutes until Davies pulled up behind him, Davies made multiple attempts, but Dudney was being stingy, not letting up. Meanwhile Levi Kitchen, Nick Romano and Ryder DiFrancesco had a good battle for fourth. From further back Jo Shimoda started putting on a charge, doing his typical start slow and keep building throughout the moto picking off riders and moving into third, passing Kitchen and Rdyer D in one section. With four minutes on the clock Davies again pulled up behind Dudney, but every time he closed in he would lose time. With 32 seconds on the clock Cole was finally able to take the lead away in the sand rollers. After pulling out a large lead, Dudney was able to close in to under three seconds behind Davies by the end while Shimoda was right behind Dudney as well. This was Davies third moto win in a row.

450 Moto 1
In 450 moto one and it was Jorge Prado with the holeshot with the Lawarence brothers right behind and Deegan down with Plessinger in the first turn. Plessinger was assisted off the track not putting weight on his right leg. Out front Jett was hounding Prado and Hunter wanted to join the battle all within 2.2 seconds of each other. Further back Hampshire had gotten around Justin Barcia who is back from injury. Eight minutes in Jett was able to get around Prado for the lead. Barcia went down and Marchbanks was able to capitalize on that and get around Cooper Webb to take over fifth. The top three were gone and all keeping each other honest and eventually Hunter got around Prado. Deegan was putting on a charge working his way into points paying positions, while Hunter closed in on Jett. Wow with about ten seconds left on the clock Hunter caught and passed Jett and put two seconds on him. Hunter has beat Jett this year, but always by being in front of him off of the start, passing him this late in a race is a major statement. Then disaster when on the last lap Hunter went down! Jett was able to get around, Hunter put on a charge but lappers got in his way, and he was unable to get around, gifting the win to Jett. Deegan was able to come around in tenth putting in an amazing ride.

250 Moto 2
Moto two and it was Cole Davies with a huge holeshot with Chance Hymas in second finally getting a good start. Casey Cochran who has been good the last couple of rounds made a move on Hymas, and Shimoda also finally got a good start in fourth, with Kitchen all the way back in eighth. Beaumer’s bad luck continues after a bad start he was making his way forward when he went down again. This will hurt his overall points. Dudney who rode amazing in the first moto had his own troubles and went down as well. Nine minutes in and second place through fifth was in a deep battle led by Cochran. If Shimoda wants to make a run at Davies he is going to need to make a pass soon. Finally, Jo makes a pass and then Ryder D follows suit, putting Cochran back to fourth with Kitchen going after him. After getting around Cochran, Kitchen set his sights on Ryder D. With eight minutes on the clock Kitchen went down hard and fell back to sixth. While Shimoda started reeling in Davies and rode around the outside of him with three minutes on the clock. Kitchen passed Hymas with two to go getting back into fifth. In the end it was Shimoda over Davies with Ryder D in third. Davies gets the overall but Shimoda takes the points lead over Kitchen.

450 Moto 2
Moto two and it was Prado again with the holeshot, Deegan close behind, Jett and Webb. Hunter in sixth, with Christian Craig and others down in the first turn. Hunter got around Hampshire and then goes after Webb. Then Jett goes down after the finish and goes back to tenth. Out front Prado leads with about three seconds over Deegan who has three seconds over Hunter. Unfortunately for Jett he goes down again losing even more positions. Jett trying to work his way up and Barcia was not going to make it easy on him. Thirteen minutes to go and Hunter makes a pass on Deegan for second, while Jett sits in sixth closing on Marchbanks. Out front though Hunter Lawrence started closing in on Prado and the two engaged in a game of cat and mouse. The lapped riders were definitely hurting Prado and Hunter was able to make the pass with three minutes on the clock. Prado fought back but was unable to get him back. In the end it was a very happy Hunter Lawrence with the win, Prado in second and Deegan in third. Hampshire in fourth and Jett in fifth with third overall.
