  • Yamaha and Eli Tomac Part Ways Following 2025 Season
TBA SMX Playoff 1SuperMotocross World Championship

The Eli Tomac, Monster Energy Yamaha Star Racing era is officially over. In an Instagram video this afternoon, Yamaha thanked Tomac for their success together in AMA Supercross and Motocross, confirming his departure from the team. After several years with Monster Energy Kawasaki, the Colorado native joined the factory Yamaha team ahead of 2022. Tomac went on win both the Monster Energy AMA Supercross and AMA Pro Motocross Championships aboard his Yamaha YZ450F in 2022.

Now, after four years together—the later three involving injuries—Tomac’s time with Yamaha is up. It is reported the two-time 450SX Champion has signed with Red Bull KTM, a deal we expect to see announced next week.

For now, check out this video Yamaha did thanking Tomac.

"A Supercross championship, a Motocross championship, a Motocross of Nations title, dozens of race wins, and so many unforgettable battles, there’s just one thing to say: Thanks for the memories, Eli, what a ride it’s been!!!"

Update: Yamaha Release

The following press release is from Yamaha:

Monster Energy Yamaha Star Racing Thanks Eli Tomac

MARIETTA, Ga. – Monster Energy Yamaha Star Racing extends its sincere thanks to Eli Tomac for the remarkable success achieved together over the past four seasons (2022–2025) in the SuperMotocross World Championship, and wishes Eli all the best in his future endeavors.

Tomac enjoyed immediate success aboard the Monster Energy Yamaha Star Racing YZ450F during his debut season with the team, earning both the 2022 Monster Energy AMA Supercross 450SX and Pro Motocross 450MX Championships, and leading Team USA to victory at the Motocross of Nations. Despite injuries that sidelined him for portions of the subsequent seasons, the Colorado native amassed an impressive 16 450SX main event wins and 16 450MX moto wins, including a pair of Daytona Supercross victories to make him the winningest rider in the sport at the iconic venue.
