SMX Playoffs 1 Update: Race Called After Two-Hour Weather Delay, Moto 1 Results Stand as Official Results

Unfortunately, today's SMX Playoffs 1 round was forced to end early. Towards the end of the first 450SMX moto, a heavy gust of wind came across zMAX Dragway, kicking up a ton of dust and rustling some advertisement banners, and that was just the start of a weather band that included lightning, which eventually led to the second motos being unable to run.
Just as the moto was ending, a slight rain started to fall. Dark clouds were overhead and quickly, rain came. By 4:15 p.m. local time, just ahead of the planned SMX Next World All-Stars main event, we were put on a weather delay due to the lightning in the area.
An hour and 15 minutes later, we were still on a weather delay. Lightning kept resetting the countdown clock . Unfortunately, lightning kept striking near the venue, again resetting the clock.
SMX Playoffs 1 update: still in a weather delay here at zMAX Dragway.

It has been about an hour and 15 minutes since we first went on weather delay.
It started raining harder seconds after this update! 🎥 @supermotocross #SuperMotocross #SMX #SMX2025 #SMXNext pic.twitter.com/kPLmRjQ6ST
The following announcement was made at 6:17 p.m. local time.
"Due to continuous lightning in the Concord area and diminishing daylight, the second motos are being called and results will be based on Moto 1 scores."

The following announcement was just made: "Due to continuous lightning in the Concord area and diminishing daylight, the second motos are being called and results will be based on Moto 1 scores." @supermotocross #SuperMotocross #SMX #SMX2025
Haiden Deegan (250SMX) and Jett Lawrence (450SMX) are officially credited with the race wins after winning the first moto. It was lightning, not rain, that led to the delays and then the cancellation of the second motos. Next weekend’s second playoff round in St. Louis, Missouri will be even more significant than expected with its double points.
Also, note that the post-race press conference AND media scrum were both cancelled and members of the media were not allowed into the pits for post-race interviews.
Check out our video recap explaining why the race day was called early (again, it was not the rain, but instead continuous lightning in the area).
