Derek Kelley was one of the few riders we saw have a hard crash at Saturday's 2025 Monster Energy AMA Supercross season opener. Kelley went down in the first 250SX Group B qualifying session, which caused the session to be red flagged so the Alpinestars medical crew could tend to him. The medics helped him sit up and eventually helped him onto the medical cart. Sitting up, Kelley was placed in a soft neck brace, but he gave a peace sign as the cart left the stadium floor. Kelley did not return, and Team Solitaire Heartbeat Hot Sauce Yamaha simply put on X (formerly "Twitter"):
Derek Kelley is out for the night.

This morning, Kelley took to Instagram to provide an update. He said he is super sore but does not have any broken bones and is shooting to race this weekend's San Diego Supercross.
Not how I wanted my weekend to go at all. Cross rutted and hit X-Games best whip into the wrong lane 🤦🏼♂️ Super sore and beat up but not broken. Hopefully I feel better soon and I can get on the bike before this weekend in SD 💪🏻
