  • Evan Ferry Provides Update After A1 SX Heat Race Crash: “My Achilles Gave Out”
Anaheim, CA Anaheim 1 (A1)Monster Energy AMA Supercross Championship

Unfortunately, Evan Ferry's night at the 2025 Monster Energy AMA Supercross opener today ended early. The second-generation rider was entering just his second supercross event ever and was running inside the top four early on. However, towards the end of the race, Ferry would go down off the side of the track in between the jumps back and forth across the starting straight. He was not standing up, although he seemed to be moving around okay. He was laying on his side favoring his right leg. Once the race had ended, the Alpinestars medical crew picked him up then helped him onto the cart, with his right leg propped up. When the 250SX LCQ riders were picking their gates, Ferry was not down there, as his night was officially over.

Ferry took to Instagram tonight to provide an update. In a post with just a photo of his bike in the Phoenix Racing Honda pits, Ferry said his “Achilles gave out.” In an Instagram story post (disappears after 24 hours), Ferry posted a video of him casing a jump with text saying: "Video of what happened...🤦"

This injury will likely sideline him for the remainder of the supercross season, and possibly parts of the AMA Pro Motocross Championship.

“At a loss for words right now. Did absolutely everything I could the months leading up to Anaheim. Had an awesome heat race going in qualifying position battling with some gnarly dudes, and unfortunately my Achilles gave out. No idea how long I’ll be out but I will be back! Keep yall updated!🫡 just want to give a huge thanks to the whole entire @phxracinghonda team for believing in me! Thanks team❤️”

Remember, last year the first and only start Ferry made as a true rookie was the Detroit Supercross 250SX East Region main event, when he and about a dozen other riders were collected in the wild, infamous first turn crash. In that crash, Ferry was slammed into a wall of Tuff Blox off the edge of the track. He did not return for any more races and by April he had departed from the team.
