Cooper Webb Round 1 450SX Results Each Year—How Will 2025 Opener Go?
How Has Cooper Webb Done at Anaheim 1 SX?
We know Cooper Webb is a world-class racer. When the lights come on, he shines, no matter how he qualified earlier in the day. The North Carolina native might not be the flashiest rider in Monster Energy AMA Supercross history, but entering 2025, the two-time 450SX Champion is ready for yet another championship battle.
He is not the best starter, but he is a damn good finisher. As he said in the SuperMotocross World Championship (SMX) season preview special, he's "just a good ole boy from North Carolina that puts his entire heart and effort into whatever he does." And our own Jason Weigandt noted in the preview show, "Never ever ever count him [Cooper Webb] out."
Webb enters the 2025 season with 25 450SX wins, which is currently tenth on the all-time list. However, none of his 25 career wins to date have come at the opening round to start a season. So, how has Webb finished in the season opener of his first eight 450SX seasons to date?
In his eight 450SX opening round races, he has results of 10, 10, 5, 3, 9, 2, 2, and 6, with the tenth being his 2017 450SX A1 debut and his sixth being the '24 season opener. Those results give him an average finish of 5.9.
Bigger picture, here is how Webb has finished in the 450SX championship standings at the end of the season:
2017: 8th
2018: 9th
2019: 1st, Champion
2020: 2nd
2021: 1st, Champion
2022: 7th
2023: 3rd
2024: 2nd
For Cooper Webb, the opening round does not typically define his season. He did, however, have sneaky speed last year at the opener, winning his heat and battling for a podium for most of the main before a late crash. This year he might be even better after looking quick in several off-season races, including a win at the Paris Supercross, where he was much better than he was in 2023. Could this be the year he finally wins round one? It might not matter. He will do his best—and think big picture—so he can be in the fight come the 17th and final supercross Saturday in mid-May.
